Passive Mid is cut only centered @250Hz but with reactive voicing (and make up gain I believe).

The passive mid is a little elusive because the shape of the curve changes with depth of cut, plus there is additional make-up circuitry that modifies things too. I thought there was an approximation, maybe in the text where the feature is described?
currently I own the subway d800+ which im happy with, but as many others im of course intrigued by the WD800. There is nowere in my country I can try the amp so im most curious about how it does compare too the d800+ particulary with the voicing button about 40% up, the voicing control is were the subway really shines in my book, I think this control takes the amp from flat and boring too make it really awesome(usually I hate amp filters) is this easy too replicate on the wd800? does the passive mid cut do much of the same?

That was my Ibby EDB 700.. To me, great bass... it and that Eden rig are long gone.. might be time for a photo change
As a previous owner (and lover of the plus) the WD out of the box in “flat” mode does sound a bit richer in the low end and the top end is a little sweeter, not as ice picky as the plus. However, it’s the mids of the WD that REALLY shine here. The overall tonal characteristic is incredibly complex albeit subtle for my applications.
I, like you, was a big fan of the Voicing knob on the plus. It was the magic knob lol. I honestly don’t miss it as you can get that low end flame thrower type of tone (with some experimentation of course) with the eq section on the WD. It’s got that familiar Subway dna, but it’s a different animal without a doubt.
I totally took a gamble with the WD. I sold my plus, and then the next day ordered the WD without ever hearing it. I’m VERY pleased with Andy’s and Mesa’s work.

Buddy of mine has the green 5 string. Sounds like doo doo to be honest but MAN it played good.

From the narrative section of the manual regarding the passive mid control:
This eq control is an integral part of the amplifier’s voicing circuit and is responsible for the amount of midrange frequency content present in the signal, relative to the rest of the spectrum. Midrange is primarily responsible for voicing and articulation character of the instrument. This is a passive control with cut only, the amount of cut roughly proportional to the counter-clockwise rotation of the control. Due to the specific way this filter is implemented by the use of make-up gain, most users will find that their flat or neutral tone will be from the 10:00 to 2:00 position, and this might give the appearance of boost as the control is rotated farther clockwise. This filter’s Q (width) symmetry and response is quite different from the parametric mid section, which is typically used more for precise tuning of the amp’s response.

Bass: +14dB/-14dB @ 40Hz, shelving [note 2]
Passive Mid: -15dB @ 250 Hz, dip only
Treble: +11dB/-14dB @ 4kHz, shelving [note 2]
Parametric Mid Bands: +12dB/-14dB, peak/dip @ selected band centers

From tonight’s gig. Ran WD 800 @ 2 ohms with a P Bass.
Bag End S12 & S15D cabs. Played three long sets..amp didn’t break a sweat.. plenty of great tone and volume.
