I've been teaching my 10yo grandson to do math in his head. Other day he orders a burger and fries.I don’t know how many times I encounter kids operating a cash that can’t make change unless the register tells them what to do. They can’t do basic math in their heads.
Many have no penmanship skills. No cursive writing.

The teen behind the counter shortchanged him. He caught it and told the kid who doubted him so, he counted the change back to him as the kid should have done to him deducting the purchase from the amount he gave him arriving at the short change. The kid was flustered that he was showed up by a 10yo.
We have two on display in our living room. The large one was used by my SO's father when he had his restaurant in the '60s.I’m still using an abacus.

Genuinely curious about the WD800. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the WalkAbout but have never played one.
What does the tube preamp paired up with a SS power section provide? Is it about achieving grind and/or compression on the front end? Something else?

Oh, crap. That blows. Sorry for your troubles.Multiple broken ribs - thankfully nothing else...50 mph lowside. Almost $10K in damage to the bike, would have been totaled without the engine bars.

I'm going to answer your comments in the most respectful way possible.
1. Screw holding properties don't matter one bit when you use assebly jigs, splay style staples, dado construction and advanced adhesives. Once the adhesives cure, 100% of the strength is generated within the glue line and is as strong as the wood itself. We don't use screws to hold the cabinet together, I can't think of any quality production cabinet shops that do (and I've been around more than a few).
2. Who buys their production sheet goods at HD or Lowes? The materials we use are simply not available there anyway.
3. There certainly are standards for thickness/flatness, warp and twist. They are very important for those of us who use precision CNC equipment, and result in a higher quality joints and more uniform production from piece to piece. If there were no standards, how do you buy say a 60" x 60" sheet of 18mm plywood and know that you aren't getting 58" x 57" 16.7mm? Because the standards and tolerances define what you are both buying and receiving.
4. T-Nuts are not an issue when properly installed in Poplar. There are specific production specifications that we use for the insertion of T-nuts that guarantee that they are firmly mated to the baffle. Again, this is another benefit of CNC machining as well as production tooling.
5. Who said anything about wanting resonance? Yes, proper bracing is important when designing any cabinet, and we have developed some fairly sophisticated bracing techniques that address this in accordance to the design goals. Perhaps you are unaware of this?
6. Electronics may be my PREFERRED work, but 6 years of engineering and degrees covers an awful lot of territory, including mechanical and structural disciplines. I am probably as qualified in these aspects of mechanical/structural as I am in electrical engineering, I just happen to enjoy designing amps, it's a bit more recreational to me.
Respectfully, I suggest that you might want to step back and reconsider that I could know more about this topic than you are giving me credit for, ESPECIALLY considering my track record doing exactly this successfully for a long time, for some significant clients and products. I came from the pro audio industry, both the manufacturing side as well as the touring side, developing products that are both current and well respected. You don't design flying speaker systems without understanding the structural aspects of materials and assembly methods.
Arguing that something can't be done, or can't be done well, or won't last, doesn't seem to make much sense in the face of tens of thousands of actual real world cabinets that TalkBass players have experience with that are doing exactly what you say can't be done, and have been doing so for 15-20 years without any issues. Somewhere there is a huge disconnect and frankly I can't follow your logic.
