New mesa subway amps and cabs!

Remember, I can barely chew gum, count and play at the same time..

Light should flash when you hit your hard notes/ dig in, otherwise it's off.

That's the general rule, I've not tried the WD tho

I quickly burned up so many class D amps before getting my D800, I could have easily been of that opinion. My D800 has been an absolute stud, even after tons of van tours where gear ain’t exactly babied

Class D topologies need a fan less than just about any other amp topology, but a properly placed fan with just the right amount of airflow (read as not too much) in the proper places is all it takes.

Depends on the gig, honestly. Ironically, perhaps, I’m not a huge cab snob. If you like your cab in several bands at multiple venues, you’re probably right to like that cab
Heck, I’d love to try the newer Mesa 215’s or 212’s. Like many others, I love having and trying lots of different basses and rig setups, my D800 being the most used of anything in my rig for quite awhile now. I’ve already contacted Mesa about the WD though

Sheesh, I’m a Mesa endorser and just now noticed the WD800?!
To be fair, I’ve had such good luck with my D800 that I’ve not given amps much thought. Been my daily driver for a few trouble free years and probably at least 600-700 gigs. That said, I gotta try one of these WD’s

I haven't noticed it mentioned anywhere in this thread, but does the vacuum tube in the WD800 add any measurable noise, compared to the D800's all-solid-state preamp? I'm thinking mainly about when recording a clean sound 'post-EQ' out the DI...

I didn’t notice any difference compared to the D-800.

It can possibly add a little noise, maybe a dB or two, but if the gain structure is set up reasonably then all of these amps are very quiet by comparison to "average". It's unlikely that any difference is noticeable.

So UPS attempted delivery of my new Subway 2x15 cab today but of course I was at work. I’m having them hold it at the facility for pick up tonight. I’ll post pics when I get it but not sure if I can put it through it’s paces tonight because my youngest son will probably be sleeping. He’s actually used to it, he got a little drum set for Christmas so the noise isn’t the problem. My wife is the problem. She’d be pissed if I woke him up.

I picked up a WD800 about a week ago and with the plethora of knobs and subtle adjustments it took a bit more than most amps I've had to dial in my different basses but this is a work of art. The bass and HPF work really well to dial in the low end and the passive mid and treble seem to cover most on-the-fly voicing adjustments. The damping knob provides a nice adjustment on the "give" of the notes and the harmonics from this preamp are rich. I ended up bypassing my compressor because it didn't seem necessary. The 3-band semi-parametric eq is powerful but one can get lost in the adjustments if you don't know what you are listening for. A little goes a long way. Funny how this amp can sound warm and bright at the same time but it pulls it off. Articulate with enough fat to sound rich and plenty of headroom. Nicely done! Here are the settings I ended up with my Dingwall SPJ5 and the Slant 12/5+15/5 stack I built. Monster tone...

That's very similar to the settings I had with my sad pj. I like your description of sounding warm amd bright at same time, I couldn't agree more.

Just picked up the 2x15 from UPS. Wow that's a big box!

Here it is next to my Hathor 2x12. The wheels on the bottom make this thing really easy to move around. Played it at low volume since my son was sleeping in the next room. Sounds really good so far. I'll get to push it at rehearsal tomorrow night.

Unfortunately it looks like one of the top corner pieces busted during shipping. I'm sure Mesa customer service will send me a new one. It's just held on with two screws so it should be an easy replacement. I'll call them tomorrow.

I'll give a full report after practice tomorrow. I'll be going up against a loud drummer and two Marshall half stacks.
Oh, and it's serial number 000017. Guess I got the 17th one made.
