New Model Rickenbacker Bass!?!

So this thread has been open for 2 months now. Any updates on when the “3030” will be released for the hordes of crazed Ricophiles?

Just showed up on the Rick boutique. Available in walnut, JG, MG, FG. $2,149.

Yes, 5 of each color of 3030 were posted yesterday.

Only Walnut and Maple are currently available.

That's my guess. The scale length is shorter than a standard shorty, but there's quite a bit of extra string going past the bridge to the tailpiece, so it probably ends up being the same winding length.

I believe standard short scale strings will fit (given the distance between tailpiece and bridge), but I assume you will need strings that would be relatively high tension at 30" scale in order to be playable at 24.75" scale!

Why not? Double bassist Ron Carter commissioned the build of a piccolo stand up bass so that he could play duets and trade licks with another bassist, enabling the two players to be distinguished from each other on a recording. Maybe we’ll see bands with two bassists or individuals recording the 3030 along with a standard scale bass guitar. The future is bright, even with flats.

There is a video clip on the facebook from March 12 if you have access to it. The same clip is probably on the instantgram too. It comes with flatwounds and sounds great (on my computer speakers).

Since I am new to the Ric club, does this happen often because they were small batches?

I ask, because I wish I would have picked up a Walnut one as well.

If so, lesson learned I’ll pull the trigger harder next time.
