New Nickelback album

Damn, man, you beat me to it.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

They are the new Creed, even Jesus hates Creed. :ninja: :D

They will sell many records, all of their music will sound the same. It's a formula that works.

I won't be buying the new album.

haha. i remeber that pic. i actually saw the same pic with the same speech bubble only with something different in it. somthing more along the lines of "i think im going to cry guys"
thus;scott staph=cry baby

and to the original poster;

did you post this about the bass in the nickleback album?

cause im sure no basslines are different than the guitar riffs at all,of course?! no bass player from a band thats anything like nickleback has any good or distinguishable bass lines at all!

and now that i think of it,i cant think of really any alternative rock bass players that have any decent basslines.

Actually reading the OP (original post) would make your question unnecessary.

he was talking about his bass sound

Yes.

I've just received some new tracks off the new Nickelback album, Dark Horse....it's the standard Nickelback mix of ballads mixed with heavier rock tunes. What's different is that the riffs have gone more classic rock and bluesy than on previous albums. BUT, the main point is, Mike's bass sounds like it's going to tear your face off. It's what I like to hear. :D Anyone else got it?

OP about Mike's sound, and about the release of the album.

A Nickelback thread quikly turns into a "Nickelback sucks"-fest. :hmm:

A very touchy topic like for example DragonForce, Fieldy/Korn and post-Jason-Metallica threads.
Yes, these thread have a potential to end badly. :scowl:

Yes I think Nickelback su... ..., uhm I mean: is not so good.
But I'll try to refrain from bashing behavior in the future.

That is all, play nicely.

Well, cheers to the Nickelback haters for ruining my thread! I only started it to discuss the new album, what people thought of it (those that have heard it, not those that speculate on what it might be like), and of course the bass tone.

Psychicpet, Mike is using Fender now? He was using a Sadowsky live for finger played songs......

for the recording I know that he had a couple of Custom Shop P basses tuned B-D along with a huge gallery of other basses, but again for all of the picked tracks it was his EMG-HZ loaded Spector(s). and ya, even from some of the leaked tracks on YoUTube i'm digging where the new album is headed. Nice big ol' riffs and the bass is just huuuuuge.

We haven't ruined your thread, we gave it substance.

I personally think what NB does by putting record company/fan friendly songs along side their heavier stuff is brilliant! self preservation really. . . ya gotta make the powers that be money to stay in the game. way it goes!

and as for the split track w/ the same form . . . you find me a pop songwriter who hasn't written 2 songs in the same form. doesn't exist. i've written dozens of songs in the same form. this is pop music - there is a VERY limited scope to stay in. NB found a nice little niche. personally, as a songwriter, i'd like for my career to have 1/2 as much success!

to the OP - I can't wait to check it out. always dug their music - chads gtr sound left a little to be desired for my taste, but i listened to the tunes a bunch none the less . . .

I'm sorry but I just can't respect Nickelback in any form. They do have a few songs that are "OK" but the fact that they have released two separate songs which are identical to each other is something I won't forgive. I mean, either they were too stupid to realize the similarity or just didn't care. Either way they should be ashamed for doing so.

What comes to the tone... It's the same as every AOR band, I really can't find anything special from that. I mean, it's as generic as it can be, it lacks personality pretty much in every manner. Yeah, it sounds good in general but gets lost in the majority. Nickelback, Creed, Seether... You name it. Sometimes I can't even tell the difference. That's really sad.

But as I said, they have a couple of songs that are OK. Yet it doesn't mean that I respect or like the band - after all almost any band can make a killer song or two. It's all about the percentage of good songs compared to the entire discography. That's what matters to me.

I just can't respect anyone that can't respect Nickelback for being a good Rock and Roll band. I mean sure, those that disrespect may post other relevant things here @ TB but I really, anyone can come up with a good post or two. I look at it as a percentage of intelligent things pertaining to the OPs of threads compared to the overall thread babble.

:smug:

ahhh, these hater/flaming threads can get fun can't they?
