But, yeah, a DCX with all those features would certainly be something that I would check out as a potential replacement for the Noble. Two foot switches would be amazing. I'd be down for serial number 2.
I've been thinking about this suggestion being talked about and I am thinking, if you're gonna do it, do it. Here is my idea. I can sketch it out but may be hard to describe.
The pedal/box would be about the size of three Origin pedals (think a DCX plus a DCX plus a Cali76, the new one). It would basically be those three pedals in one with four separate footswitches.
- A DI out with separate level control to FOH and ground/lift switch on side.
- Top jacks consisting of In, Out, Send, and Return (for an effects loop).
- Left side of pedal is EQ. Would have Level, Gain, Low, Mid, and High knobs and a Mid Voice (freq.) switch. Two footswitches here for Bypass and EQ On/Off.
- Middle of pedal is Drive. Would have Level, Drive, and Tone (like a tilt EQ) knobs and a Pre/Post EQ switch. One footswitch for Drive On/Off.
- Right side of pedal is Cali76. Would have same knobs and metering with added Pre/Post switch to determine whether it is first or last in the chain. Footswitch for Cali On/Off.
- Maybe you could include an optional amp/cab sim that is defeatable and have choices like a default SVT or Fender voice and a few cab sims to choose from. Might need to be the size of four Origin pedals at this point, but that is still not that huge for what you would get.
This is a lot and I know it's pie in the sky. This would be along the lines of what JHS did with their new box. Would probably be about the same size. I don't know what the price point would be, but I bet a lot of folks would pay.
I guess looking at this, have Origin maybe do an Origin version of the JHS Punchline.
