I would dearly love to purchase a few of these sets for builds, if they were available in 16mm and 17mm spacing. Seems like all it would require is a different base plate, no changes needed to the tuner units themselves.

Actually I don't have plans for any other spacing than 19 mm, because it's all milling on cnc machine and my supplier doesn't make less than 100 parts, but, a customer from the US asked me about 4 strings base plate with 17,5 mm and in this case I make only one manually in my shop, so it is possible to make.

Thanks. I'm not sure I completely understand the answer, which is probably down to not asking a very clear question. I've tried again with a new thread.

Take a look Jim, number 2 the neck is lower than number 3, in that case of Fernandes bass, probably the neck is like number 3, so it wasn't necessary too scalop the body, it dependes on the height of the bridge and height of the neck

Thanks, yes, I failed to communicate. What I'm interested in is how much clearance will be needed under the tuning knobs if I don't have a full depth cut out underneath them. Maybe this will help show what I mean? Top being a full height cutout under the tuning knobs like a Steinberger and Lesfunk's nice job. The other two being shallow and deep recesses. Looking at the Fernandes again it looks as if he has the tuner knobs partially beyond the end of the body and partly cleared by the body contours, which is another way of getting clearance.

Oh now I get it ... the Fernandes bass doesn't need to do anything, but in this case yoou'll need at least 3/4"

Undercutting the tuner knobs will work, but I doubt you’ll find it comfortable which is why most production headless have at least a minimal cut out at the heel. The tuner knobs on the newer systems look longer than the original Steinberger setup, but it’s still just a knurled cylinder.

Also, remember if you choose to use thrust bearings as I did as a modification, (highly recommended by me) it will lengthen the tuning screws an additional 4mm

Thanks, that's a very helpful image. Your little vestigial feet/strap buttons are very neat: something like that might be a good solution for me.

I was just mulling over string/intonation changes. Do you have a hex socket cut in the end of the tuning knob so that you can use a T allen key as a string winder? Would it be a good idea? Or is there some obvious flaw I haven't thought of?

No , you use your fingers. The tuning knob is hollow

It should work, I'll try to put the Fernandez conversion that a luthier did with my bridge, unfortunately the tinypic doesn't work anymore.

Chinese counterfeiting is a known problem. There isn’t much that can be done about it, as far as I understand, due to the lax enforcement of international copyright/patent law.

Some people will happily buy the Chinese copies. Others, like myself, would rather honor the efforts of the original designers.

I am in the market for headless hardware, but I don’t see anything currently for sale from you on eBay. Have you switched to a different selling platform?

Hi @Passini - is there a 7 string version of this bridge, or possibly individual/fanned bridges? I'm brainstorming for a new build and your hardware looks quite nice.
