Thanks. I used 3/4" plywood. It is very sturdy and when I play, if I touch the cab, it is not vibrating. Which of course is why I chose that thickness.

But now I am wondering if I could have gotten away with 5/8" plywood. It's just 1/8" thinner, but that should probably shave off about 6lbs, maybe keeping it around 60lbs.

Yeah, 5/8 Baltic birch would be lighter.

This thread is a little ripe and your probably well on your way to completion of your 2-15" project. I thought I'd pass this along as sort of thinking out of the box.

Check out this site Invalid Link Removed. The construction method of their model 1 is very doable at home. While there wall thickness and braceing results in an extreamly heavy enclosure, this technique with major design modifications could yield a very light and stiff enclosure. Still, it's alot of cutting and glueing.

For all the audioholics out there these were not the most musical speakers on the other hand they were very accurate and had, by far, the most slam (without a sub) of anything I've heard before.
