New Quilter bass amp!

Well so far loving the BB 800. Sounds fantastic. Amazing job Quilter. Finally the tone of the actual bass comes alive without bells and whistles. I do wish I could get a grittier, distorted tone but I can get a Sansamp I guess.

I like the detents and simplicity of the front. What I didn't care for with the 802 was having to use the adapter.. so not only do you plug in your bass cable but then have another plug in at the front which makes for a slight messy amp presentation on stage. Just my opinion. Running the XLR out at the back is much better.

I think if the 800s go out of production they'll be worth slight more coin.

I had a Sansamp RBI. The Quilter Interbass is much much better.

Can you use the Interbass with the 800? Basically adding the EQ of the 802 to the 800? Guess I'd be spending more money doing that. Might as well get an 802 haha. Maybe a Sansamp would be a better choice for the grit.

Not to speak for @Rocknroller4 - but there is no XLR out on the 802, so you have to use an adaptor 1/4"->XLR.

Yeah, the lack of XLR out on the 802 is an odd decision, I suspect it would have hurt sales.

I use a different cab for the 800. Usually Hartke but I might check out Ampeg or Mesa. 2x10 or a 4x10.

The 802 and the Interbass are very different.
The ultra high EQ band is missing on the Interbass and there is no vintage mode on the 802 so, as I understand it, no valvey saturation/break up (much more natural sounding than the Sansamp) and no cab sim.

In full range mode the Interbass sounds much like the character of the 800 (although more highs and lows)

The vintage mode is where the magic lies with the Interbass IME.

I just noticed they added a Quilter Custom Shop to the website! Nothing bass-related yet, but it's still a pretty cool development for the company.

It is in parallel and can be used as a 2nd input. It has a similar gain to the main input switched to active. It is affected only by the master in the signal path.

You may prefer to boost the signal before it gets to the return input if you're using the input switch on "passive".

Can someone explain to me what Speakon is? and why did many want the 802 with two options for Speakon? Silly question. Better to use over the standard cables?

Edit: Nevermind, found my answer. I just realized I have used them before when I had a Tiny Terror Bass head. That had two as well. Speakon to 1/4 adapter.

I bring my Quilter in its bag with the only two cables I need... power and speakon.

Don't you need two speakon cables if using say an Ampeg 6x10 cab? or is one enough?

Have you ever tried the Aguilar Tone Hammer 350 head? Curious how that would sound compared to the Quilter.

I've played regularly through a Tone Hammer 500. I found it a little 2 dimensional and lacked the dynamics of the BB800.

The Tonehammer does have the possibility of grit built in though (not that I found it a nice sort of grit personally).
