I never cared for them back in the day, but in the last couple years I have acquired a definite liking for pointy headstocks! Picked up three Jacksons in the last couple months, and an old Carvin with an even better pointy headstock...

Honestly, I had to click on the link to be sure it wasn't a photo-prank. I like the look of Ric basses, do NOT like how they feel, but this is not the solution. No thank you.

(FYI: I am building a bass for myself with Ric-inspired styling cues right now. It looks nothing like this Jackson)

And Fender sued them over it. Now that Fender owns them it's fair game I suppose. But to me it's still gawd awful

The funniest thing about this bass is it doesn’t really look like a Rickenbacker...the pickguard is fooling a lot of people into thinking it does.
Seriously, the Harley Benton RB-414 and the Chowny Retrovibe Vantage resemble Rics, but this one?
No way!

Hope RIC have trademarked their bridge and stupid pickguard then, and in all possible variations, or they'd get a giant bird flipped at them if they did sue. As I said before, I re-dub this the Soothice Bass!

I was referring to Rickenbackers reputation for suing anyone for trying to copy them. Fender basically don’t care otherwise all the Fender clones like Sadowsky, and make no mistake about it they are a copy, would not exist.

I'm well aware, and was referencing that. They even had their designs registered as trademarks, equating them to logos. (Fender moved too late to do anything similar, and only have their headstocks protected, so Sadowsky are free to copy their hiney off.) So they have ample basis to sue right and left. However, good luck doing it in this case (unless RIC really did protect their 400X design down to the pickguard): it really looks like a "do it, I dare you" on Jackson's part, from the outside. And it's hilarious!

So Jackson had a 51 styled bass maybe last year, but the color choices were horrible...

This years style, and colors are better... not due in until April... but mine is on order.

We shall see how the pickups are, but for sure we are going vol/blend, or maybe spackle over the J-hole
