New Schecter Short-Scale Banshee bass

Mine is 8 lb 2 oz. I put a set of La Bella 760F-MUS thru-body flats on it. Superior bass for the money. I like my G&L Fallout better, but it was twice the price. From a playability perspective, I prefer it to my SG.

The Maartian - Thanks to one of your earlier posts for the LaBella 760-MUS. Another very good SS that adds to the growing list that wasn't as good several years ago.

Just ran across this post. Did you in fact get one? What is your impression of it? Thanks!
It's a lean, mean, crowd-pleasing machine! Love shorties. All I play now. Fast, smooth neck. Higher-end components than you'd expect for the price point. It's now my #2 after I picked up the G&L.

Sadly, I haven't had it in my hands for 6 months. I turned over everything I was keeping and shipping to France early in the year. I had to get my visa before they could ship it, or I'd have had to pay a 30% customs tax. I got my visa 3 weeks ago. I arrived in France 5 days ago. My shipper still hasn't put a full groupage together to ship, so I don't know when I'll have it back. It's still gotta go Phoenix to L.A. to Rotterdam to Arcachon. All I can do is hope and pray.

Man, that's one sexy bass!!!
The only thing missing that would blow my skirt up are lollipops.

i like the grey one and the gray one
I was going to get a Mustang PJ but saw the Banshee mentioned as an alternative in a Talkbass thread. I got the carbon grey one. I usually play at acoustic or semi acoustic jams using a Roland RX Bass Cube. The Banshee had a lot of versatile sounds with the top loaded stock Ernie Ball strings. However, I changed them out for LaBella 760F-MUS flats, back loaded. Surprisingly, this combination yielded a super heavy bass output I had to tame with both bass and amp controls, as it was overdriving the input. I have 6 other short scales, all with flatwounds, that I play with instrument tone rolled off and all using the same amp settings. The only thing I can figure is the back loading really increased the bass response of the Banshee. On the bass I had to turn the tone to 100%, and on the amp cut the bass from 75 to 25% and the gain from 50% to 35%, and change the amp model. I may put top loaded round wounds back on this instrument. My Banshee weighs 7.4 lbs. It looks great, the fit and finish are perfect, and I really like the playability. I have a Gator 4G gig bag for it.

Quite a project, but least you're in France! So you've got that going for you. Congrats on the move. Here's hoping your wordly possessions get there soon.
My basses have arrived! All in excellent condition. Couldn't be happier.

I'm currently renting the lower level of a home that belongs to a lovely 80+ year old woman. I can hear her walking around and her TV audio, so I'm playing plugged directly into my PreSonus 1810c with headphones and running the DI audio through my bass amp sims using Gig Performer. Will wait until my house is built to repurchase my Fender Rumbles. Would get carried away, I would. :bassist:

Sweet! Happy for you. It's a dream to play.

Great news! Glad the instruments made it in good shape. Getting the new amp(s) should be easy enough—I hope…. Sounds like a comfortable living situation until your new digs get built.

I’ve owned and enjoyed two Banshees for roughly five months. One is blue, the other white. I paid a local luthier to convert the white one to a fretless. Otherwise, they are stock, which is unusual for me. Typically I mod the heck out of my guitars and basses. Banshees come with light weight tuners, Graph Tech nut, hi-mass bridge and quality electronics. With all of these top shelf parts, there is nothing to upgrade. Both of mine weigh 8 lbs.
Most of all, I love the neck profile. It reminds me of a Fender Aerodyne Jazz, which for me is the most comfortable and enjoyable neck out there.
IMHO the Banshees cost a little more because they are well built with top quality parts and they are worth every penny.

Good thing I got my Banshee last year. Of course we all know prices are going up. I looked to see what they cost now and it's $799.
I paid $699 for mine. Glad I bought it when I did. Still loving the carbon grey! Plays like a dream. My only upgrade was to string it with La Bella DTFs.

I’m getting one of these tomorrow! Does anyone have any recommendations for medium scale strings that are a little bit heavier gauge than the La Bella MUS many of you guys have recommended? I’m looking for something I can string through the body but I like a heavier gauge flatwound.
The La Bella MUS strings are short scale, not medium scale. Those La Bella's are the only short scale flats specifically designed for thru-body mounting that I know of. Number-wise, they're not much thinner than a standard .045 to .105 set, but are slightly, but noticeably more flexible. If you want a heavier gauge, buy whatever you want and bridge mount them. This bass supports both stringing methods.

Well I just got the banshee and I absolutely love the feel! I am however super disappointing with the fact that it is noisy as if it had 60 cycle hum… i’ve read a little bit and it seems like a shielding issue because the noise goes away when I touch the strings? But the noise is almost exactly the same as a single coil hum because I compared to another bass that is a PJ. Has anyone else ever had an issue with a noisy PBase?
