Anyone tried them out?

Since I play passive 4-string Jazz Basses, I am thinking of getting 5-string Sire V5.
Those have are passive only and the neck is roasted.

photo #3 shows a ragged pick guard edge. I hope that piece of plastic is the only thing that needs more attention to detail...

roasted maple neck, rolled fretboard...okay, I'm drooling. Looking at the 4 string version.
Price is $499 for the 4 string, $599 for the 5 string.

Hmm....the V3 is still $$369 but now available in orange and sonic blue. Tough choice, as the V3 is both active and passive.

My Gen 1 Sires sound excellent passive and these look to have many refinements.

I'd love to see better markers on the neck for the fretless option. My lined 5 string has binding the way if the fret lines on the top and dots are in between notes.

Great basses.

I suggest someone go out and buy one and be disappointed. I will happily take it off your hands after it's broken in and slightly depreciated.

I've had V3 and sold it. I like maple fretboards.

Sire expands the range of models. Almost everyone can find his cup of tea. I am done with Fender.

Soundwise I agree, but technically they are not worth the high price. It’s like an old Porsche, if you have one, you are a lucky one, but the prices are overrated if you wanna buy one.

I’d like to get verification on the neck profile/shape and fretboard radius. I hope it’s a modern C and 9.5.

Additional finish options like black and white would be nice.

Option of pearl blocks and white binding would be nice too. Would really pop against the roasted neck .

I think these have maple bodies instead of ash or alder. Let’s hope the weight stays reasonably light.

Pretty sweet looking bass (love the look of that fingerboard!!!) at a very attractive price point - and it’s about time a passive model was offered IMO.

With all due respect to Marcus Miller, not all of us want an onboard preamp. So while it’s great they now offer it as an affordable selection, it’s still nicer to have a choice in the matter.

Roasted hard maple body and neck? I am having a hard time finding reason to roast this bass.

Roasting gets rid of water molecules, which makes the wood resonate better.

With all of Marcus' success, I like what he's doing with the Sire line -- putting a solid instrument at an affordable price out there to the world. Good for Marcus.

Flea tried that with his Flea Bass but it didn't get traction.

This is the bass I wish I had been able to find last fall when I bought my Skyline DJ5. Roasted maple neck, rolled fretboard edges, and passive? Ughhhhh.

Oh well, I'm not about to put my DJ5 on the chopping block. But if they release a passive fretless version of their P series I may be persuaded to spring for it.
