New Sire P Basses!

It's all right, I guess. But it would look better if it was completely covered with knobs, though. With maybe a 1/2 inch nut width. And only the EA coil of the P pickup. D and G are for sissies.

Obviously I was kidding with the above post. Actually, I love it--the knobs don't bother me a bit, because I know what they can do, having owned the V7 already. I was hoping they'd come out with exactly this configuration, as I'm more of a PJ guy than a jazz guy. If I hadn't just bought a much more expensive bass capable of both P and J tones and a few more, I'd be ordering this as soon as it was available in a 5 string. And I do pay the D and G string, as do all real men, women and children...

Finally! a P bass with modern electronics and the J pickup! And what I love about Sire is they will also make a lefty model!
Unless you're a lefty, you wouldn't realize how hard it is to get a left handed P bass that isn't a $1,100 Fender.
I've been following Sire for some time now and am interested, especially now that they have a P bass.

And frankly, I love that it has a 1 1/2" neck!

Would anyone hazard a guess about the tone controls? I'll bet there are volume, blend, maybe treble, mid, and bass. And a passive/acitve switch or splitter. Opinions?

BTW the website was down. Must be because of the announcements of new basses.

Go Sire!
Stacked volume/tone
Blend
Treble
Stacked mid/frequency sweep
Bass
Switch makes it active/passive

Once again, the main point of these basses is to have the Marcus Miller pre in there to do what it does.

It cant be easy making basses. If you go traditional, your a Fender Copying Hack. If you try to modernize the design, you get accused of trying too hard and ignoring what traditionally works "just fine".
And Sire should be blasted as once again they have shafted the passive triple humbucker double neck crowd. its like they are trying to lose money!

People complaining about the knobs need to realize the soul of MMs involment in the project is the preamp
On the whole i like this bass. I have a few passive PJs and I've been GASing for one of the Js til i saw this. I must have this. I would love to see, but probably never will, A double P pick up set up

What are we thinking? I'm pretty excited, I've been holding off on buying another V7 in the hopes that something fresh would come from them.

And yet again, only 20 frets...boooooo.

Late to the party, but count me in as one more p-bass fan who will be passing this by. I don't want a Jazz-necked bass, I want a P-bass. I'm also not a fan of the J pup being moved closer to the bridge than it is on the Sire Jazzes or many other P/J's. IIRC, Fender, Lakland and LTD (I had a Vintage 214 that was great) have the P and J in their traditional spots.

It's probably a good thing that it's Jazz necked because not only will they sell alot of them, I would have found a P-necked Sire hard to resist and I certainly don't need any more basses right now. Still, it seems like a an opporunity might have been missed here in terms of reaching out to P-bass fans.
