New Sire P Basses!

So, this sucks for P bass players. Apparently, this brand is centered around the entire bass playing world who play jazz basses and their necks. They must want the woman and child market so bad that they will keep the thinner neck at all costs.
Yeah, I too would much rather have a nice chunky P Bass neck, I've grown to rather/somewhat despise thin J Bass necks ... even if it's on a Jazz Bass

Wow.

:rollno:

I have looked - the market is fairly limited for a PJ Precision with a Jazz neck. Fender has an MIM, Lakland has in MII, and then they start to get into very low-numbers productions - and I'd bet neither Lakland and Fender make a ton.

I will say this, though. I'm a P bass player, no matter what bass I'm using at the moment. This one has a lot of knobs, and, being a P bass player, I have a fairly simple mind; sometimes two knobs get the better of me! This thing would confuse the devil out of me. Which one adjusts how dark my toast gets?
Now THAT'S Funny!!

I looks like it's finally happening, I woke up to these pictures on my Facebook.
There was also a new J bass tease..

What are we thinking? I'm pretty excited, I've been holding off on buying another V7 in the hopes that something fresh would come from them.
I need another PJ like I need a hole in the head. If they would offer a straight P in Daphne Blue, Sonic Blue or LPB, sold.

If you ask me... this is a J bass with a Pbass pickup.

It is... but it's also a Sire J with a P PU, so it has the very nice Sire preamp w/ sweepable mid, which also has a tone control for passive use as well. I have a P bass among others, and have been looking for a PJ... while I like the P bass for its specific attributes, more than a few times I have wished that I could have that ballsy P pickup, but with more control over shaping the tone... so the additional bridge pickup to allow just a little blend to articulate the notes better, and a bass/sweepable-mid/treble control, are all quite beneficial IMO. So, it's more of a V7 with a P pickup in the neck position... which is a good thing to be.

I'll wait for a five string PJ before I say how muchi like it but then never buy one, allowing other Sire aficionados to buy multiples.
I mean, really. I've said it before. If there is ever a GTG around here and people bring their Sires, I'm bringing luminol and orangy specs.

I am waiting for a 5 too... I had been gassing for a PJ.. and an M7 ... so now I will just get one of these.. I don't mind the thinner neck.. My Cirrus has a thin neck.. but I always wanted some kind of P bass.. just tosee what all the stuff was about..

Finally! a P bass with modern electronics and the J pickup! And what I love about Sire is they will also make a lefty model!
Unless you're a lefty, you wouldn't realize how hard it is to get a left handed P bass that isn't a $1,100 Fender.
I've been following Sire for some time now and am interested, especially now that they have a P bass.

And frankly, I love that it has a 1 1/2" neck!

Would anyone hazard a guess about the tone controls? I'll bet there are volume, blend, maybe treble, mid, and bass. And a passive/acitve switch or splitter. Opinions?

BTW the website was down. Must be because of the announcements of new basses.

Go Sire!

Okay, okay... an active J bass with a P bass pickup.

Really though... I'm a PJ guy through and through and what makes my bass a Pbass (or any other PJ) - is the pbass neck and passive electronics. IMHO. Turn off the J pup and IT IS A PBASS.

That's what makes a proper passive PJ so appealing to me. Obviously Sire missed the memo... but the fact is, these are modern instruments. I get it-not for everyone and definitely not for me. :)
