Well, we're not the entire bass playing world. just a large part of it.

I'd be all over one of these new P-Types if they had passive electronics. I guess I'll have to wait a see.

There is a passive/active switch for you minimalist folks.I love the P-bass version except for the amount of controls. To me, tone, volume and a pan or 3way switch is more than enough. I'm kind of a minimalist.
No need for hyperbole. You didn't get shafted, your life is as it was before. There are men who like these necks. Then women and kids are the next best fit for them. Nothing about calling anyone, anything. They are thinner and fit more of the population. That's why they make them this way. No other reason. Meanwhile, P bass players get shafted.
I for one welcome our new Sire overlords.
On the other hand, hand size factors into how manly or womanly one is:its bad enough a lot of guys judge their manhood by the music they listen to and play but now, apparently, some judge their manhood by their musical instrument choices....

See here (taken from the Sire site): Sire Bass Club! What is the control layout???
Currently, direct from Sire-usa.com or Thomann.de are the two available channels for US customers. They're just starting to roll out their retail vendor plan for the "try before buying" types.Where do you guys buy these?
The facebook comments this morning did have one line that basically teased the PJ 5 the same way they were teasing the 4 last year. I think they're listening on this one. On the other hand, I'm guessing they haven't really heard the desires here for P style nut widths yet - or the numbers just haven't justified the additional expense.Really hoping for a 5. Been in the market for a PJ5 and I just can't justify spending $3000 and up for a Mike Lull or a Valenti or a Sadowsky and there's really nothing less than that except Carvin.
FWIW I briefly owned a Sire last year and it was a great bass just not into the jazz bass sound.
Why are they P basses and still have jazz nuts??? Makes no sense. Too cheap to develop another neck for these.
Active PJ, one of my most favorite electronics arrays. You don't know what a PJ can really do if you haven't tried an active version.
Now I want a Sire, and I don't need another bass. Thanks again, TB!
