Considering the price, matching woods is not an issue, IMO. I have the amber VM P, and the woodmatching is not the best, one side is slightly darker, and the grain doesn't matchup as good as it could have.
I don't really give a damn. I bought it for $280, and it's one of the best playing, and best sounding basses I've ever had. I also think it happens to look awesome (You can see some flamed grain in certain spots under the right lighting conditions)despite the not so perfect matching.
It's really a non issue for me, especially for what I paid for it and it affects the sound and playability not one bit. AAMOF, it's a benefit as I look it ,as it makes my bass a true individual, and it helps making it "MY" bass.
