New Stingray Special or New Flea Bass?

I won’t dispute the validity of this restriction as I haven’t seen it, but I had indeed called GC (at the national number) about purchasing a SR special using the 15% off and it was offered up without question.

The problem is you cannot be selective about weight when ordering from GC (short of returning the bass) which defeats one of the very good reasons to buy the new SR special. This issue sent me looking elsewhere, and I was able to find a 4H under 8 pounds!

I have a Stingray 3EQ from 2008 and while the sound isn’t quite the same, the new Stingray Special is definitely the preferred package.

That is great news! Thanks for the heads up, I have a buddy that works there and when I went to price one out he pulled up the coupon and said that EBMM was one of the companies on their list of vendors that wouldn't participate. But I will definitely go a step higher and reach out to a manager about it. I didn't really pursue it to the fullest as I have been going back and forth whether or not to keep my spector mm.

For me, the flea bass is the answer i thought i needed after buying my stingray... The ray sound with a fender neck.... But after some time with the Stingray it really seems like a non-issue... I vote for the ray.

I voted Stingray, but the active version of the Flea (pictured above) is basically a single pickup 'ray, except only 2 band EQ.

It’s definitely not the same old Stingray. It’s as close to a redesign as you’re going to see. EBMM certainly does not live off the name as much as Fender or especially Ampeg. They offer the best production line instruments made. And they do it right here in the USA.

You won't find it! In my music retail experience, I've had probably had a hundred Fender CS pass through my hands, since the inception of the FCS program. I've owned a number of EBMM instruments and handled hundreds. EBMM has always had a higher lever of craftsmanship. It's not even arguable.

Agreed. Some folks have too much of their self worth invested in that brand to ever accept it.
