"New strings" Pedal

You know, I was thinking today as I played my new strings "If someone can put a new car smell in a spray can, someone should put a new string sound in a pedal"

Maybe someone has? I almost some sort of Chorus like, tons of harmonic sound from these new strings. It's been a while since I've changed them but if someone has a recommendation for something that gives this sound, I would love to know about it.

Darkglass X Ultra or Harmonic Booster can kind of do this, but you might as well just change your crusted up old strings.

There was an old Boss pedal (an enhancer type of thing) which added more high frequency content to add the 'zing' of new strings.

Their previous bass compressor / limiter pedal used to have this enhance thing too.

In the 80s I remember there were various forms of these pedals by companies like Pearl etc. but it's never been a very popular thing really.

In most of the demos of the darkglass harmonic booster that’s one of the main compliments it often gets. That it can make old strings sound like new by bringing out the overtones that die down as the strings age. Personally I just change the strings. It’s more than just a sound thing for me. It’s also about how the strings feel/play

I had a preamp I built once that had a simple treble control that seemed to work well for this. With a new set of strings, I'd set that control to noon. As the strings aged, I would turn the thing up. When the control reached the max setting, and it no longer sounded bright enough, it was time for new strings.

Nothing like a good pair of fresh strings for that sound. The right kind of string is important, recently tried a set of half rounds and while the smoothness was great, it was lacking the character I personally liked from round wounds. I quickly switched back

Might be overkill, but the right OD with a high-pass filter, then blended with the rest of the signal, would give you more highs plus the compression to sustain them.

But when I had mine the high end always sounded like static compared to something like a Darkglass pedal.
