New TC Elec. BH550 & 800

Yeah, exactly as to when I chose the rh450. There was no report of failure at that time and I think it was 5 years after it first came out.

What I am after now is reliability as well as portability, same goes as everyone else. Not much tone wise since they say tone comes from your hands/fingers not your amp/effects, etc.

It could be that amps with big transformers are sturdier and easier to repair, IMO, but the drawback is the weight. I do not mind carrying it around during gigs but more of the cost to ship it down, I am on a budget. I am also not certain that I would be here in the next few years since there are chances of moving so I am choosing a multivolt unit. I could be wrong but I think class D is in its childhood and in a few years parts maybe readily available though contrary to that is/are TVs are hightech but are of low quality nowadays. I do not know if amps are going that way too. I think the one with no bells and whistles are less prone to failure such as the TH500.

I also think I made a rush call to carry my gear to this tech that I thought could fix it soon. He maybe able to fix it but not asap. I also swung by the other tech that fixed my backline600, he said I should have brought it to him firstly. He said he fixes 99.9% of electronics that people carry to him. He is a proaudio technician.

I guess no matter how I ask you guys for advice you would always say it is up to me to decide which is the hard part. Once again I am not well off to be flipping gear once the new one comes out. I am a type of person that gets gear that would last or wait until it gets obsolete or so much mileage in it.

So much for the words.

If you want light weight & reliability, you might want to check out either (as far as 2nd hand only) Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 / Shuttle 9.2; or as far as new products Kustom KXB500; or Aguilar TH350 / TH500.
These amps (to this point in time, at least) seem to be more reliable than a lot of the other micro amps.
The Aguilar amps are a bit more 'voiced' than the others though, so there's that to take into consideration.

Kxb500 is out of stock atm. Genzbenz closed down, do they still entertain their clients? I'm left with the TH500 for now. I'm also looking at the crest prolite 3.0 to be driven by a vt bass deluxe pedal.

I logged into this thread to find out about the new TC amps and found the same old spiteful crap I saw last year.
People banging on and on about stated power ratings and technical specs, lies and more lies.
Seems to be the same few people too who just statre bad things and not much else.
On the other hand, you get musicians who love the TC stuff and use case examples to say how good the stuff is.

A shame as there are 2 sets of losers here; TC who lose out on sales and the hate merchants who lose out on great amps.

I've given up looking here for a fair assessment of the 550 amp, I'll look elsewhere.
My experience?
I had an Eden 320w which couldn't cut what I needed as it was to often set at 9/10 volume and struggling.
The RH450 hasn't been above 12 o'clock in a year.
I have no idea what that says "technically".
To my mind, it says that the RH450 is at least 40% louder than a 320w Eden.
Over and out. Don't bother replying as I won't be watching.
