New Tech 21 Geddy Lee DI-2112

25834472[/URL], member: 174604"]Because it's a signature unit it is setup for the way Geddy uses it but we realized that many players would want to combine the outputs for single channel use. That was just on the first run batch of that unit. All units since have a mixed output when using the Drive 1/4" output only as well as the internal switch.
Now Im wishing that I had actually waited for the second batch, In the studio, I run split, but live, I combine them. I would have loved to not have to open it up every time I go back and forth

I got mine a few months ago from a local music store who got stock in for me from our local distributor, and it was the old batch. I guess its luck of the draw unfortunately. Would have loved a new batch, but didn't think to ask as I assumed it would probably be the new one. I guess lesson learnt, to ask before hand. :). I did pick up the YYZ and DI-2112 at the same time.. other then not having the combined outputs which would have been really useful without using the swtich, these are both phenomenal pieces of equipment. :)

I unleashed my new 2112 DI at my church gig past Sunday. I almost felt sorry for the congregation as they had no clue what hit them lol. Accomplished in about 5 minutes what I've been trying to do on the HX stomp for awhile now. Good stuff!!
I've been going back and forth between purchasing the 2112 or the Stomp. I know the Stomp allows you to do a lot more but I don't need everything it has. I'm going for a proggy Tool style tone and the 2112 sounds like it could do some very cool things.

I have both and love both equally. I have certain gigs that the 2112 is best for and others that the Stomp is better for. I've also made a preset on my stomp that comes very close to my 2112 settings

I don't play live. I record at home and jam when I have mates over. I think both would be overkill for me, even though it would be fun!

Would you ever consider getting rid of the 2112;and just keeping the stomp?

No, I wouldn't. I like having them separate for different gigs and unless there'sa specific reason that I need the stomp, the 2112 is my primary studio tool

I finally bit the bullet and bought one. I'd staved of the GAS for a while but it came back harder. So far loving this pedal. I can't wait to dive deeper into it. I love the tones and what it's capable of and for recording this thing is perfect!

Can the DI-2112 be run by phantom power? I couldn't find anything online so assumed it can't and don't want to try incase I damage the unit.

The manual says no. Phantom power isn't enough.

Does the DI-2112 have a built in cab sim like the vtbass? I'm assuming no since there isn't a cab defeat button but I figured I'd ask since I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

The Drive channel of the GED-2112 is the same as our discontinued RPM rack unit that Geddy was using before the GED-2112 was developed. The SansAmp section includes speaker emulation. The Blend control allows you to "blend" your unaffected signal with the SansAmp signal. There is no way to run the SansAmp at 100% and turn off the speaker emulation. The Deep channel is a secondary channel voiced to Geddy's specifications.

I ordered this pedal used today on Reverb and just found the comment about first batches and the later feature of combining signals with the Drive 1/4. How can I visually identify if this unit can combine channels via the Drive output?
