New Traynor YBA 100!!

Now I think even better would be to use the Traynor dealer search from their website first and try to use one of those.

EDIT: Hard to recommend one thing without accidently disrespecting someone else. I don't intend that. As I said, if the Reverb dealer really has one, you could get it quickly!

it gets difficult to recommend a retailer when people do not disclose their locations....


For those in the US, I think the easiest way to find Traynor gear (new and used) is in border states. Alternates, for those in border states, a trip across the border to a Long & McQuade is also a simple solution as all carry the brand although inventory management may mean that you end up out of luck.

You are then down to 2.67 ohms. The minimum for the YBA-100 is 4 ohms. I wouldn't do it.

The designer said you can hook up two 4 ohms cabs in parallel, which means i can run down to 2 ohms but he doesn't recommend it (affects power).

Erm... the border is closed and likely will be for some time.

I suspect there will be some kind of shipping forwarder though so you could order from Canada and have it forwarded to the States.

As I understand, that shouldn't be an issue. 4 or 8 ohm MIN, so 4.8 falls within that criteria.

Solid State amps usually (always?) have a minimum impedance requirement. Tube amps are generally the opposite. They can be harmed by a too high impedance. The transformers and power tubes don't like it if the ohm load is above ratings. I'm not saying this is true for the YBA-100 because I don't know but it's worth checking into.

Since the amp is rated at 100 watts, it'd push it 100 watts hard. The amount of volume you get will depend on the speaker's sensitivity/efficiency. Also, tube amps generally don't "cut" their output to a higher impedance like SS amps do. You'll usually get the same power from a 4 or 8 ohm load.

Thanks, I guess I don't really understand tube vs ss that well. I have a Revsound RS28V which I'm using a 200 W mini head with. And I think the cab can take a lot more. I was thinking the Orange Terror Bass, but this looks rad!

If the Revsound is the 300W and 4 ohm cab you mentioned above the Orange Terror Bass will be too powerful for it since it is rated 500W at a 4 ohm load. If it is an 8 ohm cabinet then the 250W output power (at 8 ohm) is good, of course (unless you get the old model, it does 500W at either 4 or 8 ohm).
