Sure, they are about 75% novelty... but there isn't much option for that kind of money if you want those body shapes.
I think it would be cool to hack them, get rid of the onboard amp + speaker, new pickguard, move the pickup around, add another one... and generally put hundreds of dollars into a bass that probably only costs $299 (if its priced anything like its guitar counterparts)
I love Teardrops (Especially Mine) but I think the pickguard on the Teardrop looks ugly. The Phantom PG looks just right to me.
Thoughts? Rants? Flames?
