Double Bass New Wizzy?!

The corners on my VL-110 help hold my iAmp when tilted back. I would think the new corners on the Wizzy would help hold a separate amp, so they could have left the tilt handle.
I'm not keen on the look, and definitely not the lack of tilt handle; which helps bring the GAS into check. I was thinking of maybe selling my VL cabs to get a couple Wizzys and having some cash left over. I'm rethinking now. No big, I dig my rig.

That's a drag they removed the tilt handle. If it was creating problems or some people didn't like it they could just choose to not use it. User error is a strange reason for removal.

EA is very responsive to the customer base. Being responsive to the customer, while keeping costs reasonable is difficult. Which is the overriding priority? To me (and to the majority of our players), it has to be sound and weight (especially for you DB guys). Over at the dudepit there is a discussion about an 8 ohm version of the Wizzy or a special "M-Line" wizzy with a unique emblem. There is my idea of having one made in Cherry or some exotic wood. All cool ideas, just not really feasible.
Losing the tilt-back feature was not a decision made lightly. There was considerable discussion about it - probably much more than it deserved.

Aren't all of those issues also applicable to the other cabs as well? Are they being removed from the cxl112?
on removing the tilt-back stand. It is one of the better features of the Wizzy's for me in the quest for modularity and a solution that works for any number of venues.
Really sorry to see this feature abandoned.

I'm glad I have the Wizzys with the tilt feature, but I wouldn't think it'd be hard to improvise something for you guys that get the new ones. I like the handles, but I'd rather see the weight allocation go elsewhere....like a metal grill.
Just got my new "New Wizzy" from the UPS man this afternoon. I'll be gigging with it four times this weekend and will know more then, but naturally I've put it through its living room paces already.
I played my string bass and my bass guitar through it, each through an iAmp 800 and then a Walter Woods lo-power, and I must say this is a nice cabinet. The iAmp flat sounded just perfect for both basses; the Walter Woods sounded just like the Walter Woods, which is to say that with some bass boost from a Sadowsky preamp it was a perfect sound. 120 watts never sounded so loud before! I'm very happy to finally have a cabinet that seems really well-matched to a lo-power WW. As has been said before, the cabinet is not as "uncolored" as other EA designs, but for me this is a good thing; the tone of the cabinet is very pleasing.
I also should note that 1) 27 pounds is really light and 2) this cab doesn't look any cheaper than other EA cabs in person (as one comment had suggested). I'm looking forward to seeing what it does in some diverse environments this weekend.

Another vote here from a person who loves the tilt-back feature on the older Wizzy! I can deal with the extra 2 pounds to get the cab decoupled from the floor and the sound up where I want to hear it! Especially when using a single cab on the floor this makes a big diff, and a mousepad on top keeps the amp from sliding.
Especially as a DB player a one-trip load-in is hard. I already have my bags/pockets filled with books, cables, music, etc. and don't want to have to carry an extra stand.
Nice improvements on the Wizzy IMO.
I also like tilt back stands on small cabs. However, isn't the EA tilt back just a spring loaded amp handle. If you want one on there, just buy one (they are $5 or so), and screw it in to the bottom. All you will need to do is put four small rubber feet on the corner of the cab to keep it flat when not using the tilt back.
