New Year's Resolution - no new gear in 2010

Anyone else trying this?

My reason's are:

1. 2 major family holidays (24 day roadtrip and advenure tour in Egypt) schedued in the next year.

2. Trying to be less consumerist, more minimalist and content with what I have.

3. Honestly, my gear is pretty good, better gear would not make me playbetter. Best case scenario would be temporary happiness playing the new toy, then more GAS pains.

I am jonesing for a fretless and it will be tough as have some gig $$ saved. My wife is sure I'll cave. We'll see...

That's my goal as well, even though I bought a new pedal on new years day haha. Although, my plan is to sell another one to offset the cost, and I was intending to buy it before the new years, so it doesn't count. The only piece of gear I plan on buying is a vintage SVT if one comes up and I have the cash, but I doubt it will.

2010 is going to be a gear reduction year for me. I am very happy with my current setup(s) and will likely not spend any net new $$$ on gear.

E.g.. I wanted a fretless... I traded a fretted bass. I need a micro amp for rehearsal.... I am selling my SVT to buy it and actually pocketing some $$$. NO outright purchases!

I may move some stuff around and do a few trades, but the chances of me dropping $2000 or whatever on a new bass is very slim.

I am honestly getting sick of chasing the perfect bass, perfect amp, etc. when my technique is far from perfect.:hiding: Time to enjoy what I have and start pushing myself as a bassist.

P.S. If I see a great deal on a Carl Thompson or Wal on Craigslist... all bets are off.:spit::D
