New Year's Resolution - no new gear in 2010

I agree with all that about the average North American and debt. I definitely do. I've been trying to buy less and pay off more over the past year or so.

My reward? $4000 in dentist's fees. Plus $750 in vet's bills.

That, my friends, would have been an *excellent* bass.

However, my resolution for 2010 is to either fingure out how to et my damned Presonus FireBox working with my new Mac or find something that *will* work and get Presonus the hell outta my life.

I know i will buy alot but i will seel alot and last year in all the buying and swapping i did i kept a tally of all the money going in and out to show the family how much i really lost in the end i think i made 550$+ in profits and its not like i was trying i just got good deals and made other delas ect . Now they cant bit**.

I also caved. Christmas Day I was browsing Kijiji and found a Spector NS 2000/Q4. It will be mine in three or four days. I will more than likely use it on the album I am recording in February.

EDIT: I just hope my health plan kicks in so I don't have to pay for medications...

All i have left to get are two things i want a ric and a nash p bass, im sellen off some of my other basses but i really wanna rick right now after those im done...who am i kidding theres always something else

That may be the problem with the economy in the first place. Too many people -most of whom live in (North) America - living beyond their means, spending more than they earn, to paraphrase Fight Club: working jobs we hate to buy sh#@ we don't need.

wow... first of all if "some people" were a little less uptight things might not be as bad. second of all I didnt mention spending more then one can/has, just dont sit on your wallet... way to read that into it. anyway... :hyper:

2. Trying to be less consumerist, more minimalist and content with what I have.

3. Honestly, my gear is pretty good, better gear would not make me playbetter. Best case scenario would be temporary happiness playing the new toy, then more GAS pains.

I am jonesing for a fretless and it will be tough as have some gig $$ saved. My wife is sure I'll cave. We'll see...

Hang in there. I find that I do really well if I stay off of TB and craigslist. I've been on CL selling stuff though, which is then an excuse to browse everyone else's ads. Really though, I don't think I ever learn much on TalkBass except what new gear is available.

I spent my whole stash getting my pre-med student daughter's car back to road worthiness a few weeks ago. So now I'm starting from zero. That pretty much keeps the temptation in check. That, and my band possibly breaking up in the near future.
