New Zoom B3 has arrived!!!!

From looking at the owner's manual, there appears to be a blooper in the B3.

One of the chorus models (VintageCE) is meant to simulate a Boss CE-1 chorus pedal, and yet one of the knobs controls the "compression" setting. To my knowledge the Boss CE-1 does not have a compression knob.

Can anyone here confirm or deny whether this blooper actually made it onto the B3 itself, or if it's only in the manual?

So I haven't committed to anything yet. The B3 is still in the running to try. I am liking Geddy's tone a lot lately. I know there are a bunch of variables, but a part of his sound is the Tech21 and Avalon.

I notice that the B3 has both these available. Avalon U5 --> BDDI = Geddy - sort of?

Anyone try this combination yet?

I'll try to so some dry/totally bypassed USB vs 1/4" vs XLR DI output recording sometime and produce a sound file to review. I'd run my BOSS looper into the Zoom, then try to record the same loop at the same level using all 3 options for direct A-B-C comparison. Actually I'll add in a non-Zoom recording from the looper directly to my M-Audio interface, too, so you can hear if the Zoom is coloring the tone in bypass.

Yep - that's what I built as my A0 patch. ;) BDDI>Hartke 3500 amp model>Avalon U5. It sounds really good!

Its almost been a week and I've been using it more than my other pedals. I really like the built in looper and the switching of effects while looping (altho to get into the looper mode you'll activate or deactivate an effect for a short moment which kinda ruins it for serious live performing IMO).

Here's a short example of using an effect per layer/loop. These are only 3 layers with 3 effects in one patch but you can switch patches too while looping so you can imagen the possibilities.:)

I have the B2 and like the way I can stack all the different FX to make my own patches. I don't get the impression that the B3 is really an improvement. I'll keep checking this thread for more info.

I think it has a lot to do with form over function. For me, I'd rather have three pedals in front of me to turn on and off individually rather than flip through patches. To me "modeling" not only means to sound as much like the gear it is imitating but also to look like it. Or maybe, it's just easier for a lunk head like me to understand and use.

Good point. The main problem with the B2 is that it is quite linear. I have to arrange my most used patches all in a row (A0,A1, A2, etc). If the B3 is more non-linear, that would be a plus. I have little use for the loop function, as I have a Boss RC2 if I want to experiment with that idea.

i'm seeing the b3 as the obvious choice for me in that the $ is a big factor, and that im not planning on performance, just home playing and recording...

when i look at the decent starter DIs being in the range of $150, and the b3 being 'good' for that + having the looper and all the fx for $199, just seems a no brainer for me personally....

Anyone Else Noticed This:

When you hold down the left button and return to the Home screen after going through the preset patches, all of the effects on the home screen are those individual effects which created the preset patch you just left.

Is this odd, or just me?

Browsing thru the preset patches is the same as selecting one. Say you started browsing when you were at A01 and you ended at B01, its not that it will go back to A01 once you've hit the home button. You always will be in a patch for that matter.
