So the home screen really isn't a set location so much as it is just a place to set the parameters for different effects outside of the bank patches. Well, now it all makes sense.

Before I shell out my dosh....
I notice the the sample rate is lower than my B2....
So apart from the flexibility of the three stomp pedals that avoids having to run up and down the patches if one turns a certain effect on and off in a song, what do I get.
I know the usb interface and the Di out. but what else?

I don't think so. I sold my more complex B9.1 when i got my B3, and I don't notice a difference.
The B3 has an Active/Passive selector button; the B2 doesn't. What happens if I plug in an active bass to the B2? If an active bass would pretty much fry the B2, then I might need to get a B3.
No frying's gonna happen. Worst case you might get a little clipping due to the higher signal level.
I'm thinking of ordering one but have a few questions. Can you turn effects on and off during a song? Say I need a little chorus for a into and bridge, can it be turned off for the verses etc? I had a cheap digitech, but you couldn't turn effects off one selected. Also, does it have a fretless bass simulation? Thanks,
As good as or better than the original? No... BUT, a lot of the effects are probably close enough to the original to not be noticed as lacking, especially once placed in a mix.
Yes, each effect in a patch has its own footswitch. My "home" setting on the B3 isn't so much a patch of effects put together to make one sound, but three good individual sounds that fill holes on my pedal board.

Most questions can be answered by going to the ZOOM website and downloading the manual. I believe there are at least two Jaco/fretless settings, plus with a fretless effect, yoi can create your own.
