New Zoom B3 has arrived!!!!

I plugged my Takamine classical acoustic/electric hybrid in for sh*ts and giggles, and was very impressed. I was only going to goof around for a few minutes, but played for a couple hours because it sounded so good.

I used the "acoustic" amp in the B3, then a compressor, then one of the reverbs. Sounded pretty amazing. I used the passive setting on the back of the B3.

There are several amps on the B3 that would be very useable with a guitar, and somebody told me pages ago in this thread that most of the effects aren't bass specific so it would make a great multieffects pedal for guitar. I traded in my Line 6 M13 this week because I like the effects in the B3 so much, for what it's worth.

The Gear Page forum has a lot of threads on the G3, and people there think it is the best bang for the buck multieffects/modeler around. I wish Zoom would give the B3 the update to allow 6 effects in a chain, but I've read on this thread that someone asked them that in an email and just got a canned vague response.

As an aside, I'm just a garage player and do not gig. Is there any benefit for me to use a bass amp with the B3, or is that more useful in a live situation for volume? I'm happy with the amp sims built in to the B3 through a nice set of headphones or my studio monitor/subwoofer setup.

I never read manuals big mistake. So I figured out you are best off, saving each patch with all the effects off, that way when you are searching for a patch prior to when you need during a song you can engage it as you need it. Unless you remember the name of each bank and what you have in every position, this comes in handy.
For example, I am mainly using the B3 for 6 different effects plus a compressor.
I put the compressor in the 3rd position with the same settings on a0-a2 and then put the 6 effects in the 1st and 2nd positions of those patches. I can switch between banks and then chose my effect.
I had limited time with it, just leveled those banks for this weekends gigs. Next free time, I will start using the computer editor.

Don't know about the other guys, but I'm certainly not.
I've altered all of the factory presets (at least the ones I want to use, some are just plain silly if you ask me) to suit my taste and swapped the order of them as well. Some of my alterations include completely changing them.
I'm loving the SVT amp model so it features in most of my favourites.

The patches I am using are all bunched up in banks A and B and the silly ones are back in I and J country.
In between ones are, well, in between!

I really like the modulation effects on the B3. Many times, especially if space is tight, I'll use the B3 when playing out.

What I'm having trouble finding is a decent overdrive. In separates, my overdrive of choice is the Way Huge Pork Loin. I have it so it just starts to get grindy when I push it. I haven't found anything even close on the B3. And I've tried the amps, preamps and distortion pedals.

Any suggestions on what to try?

I like the SVT model for overdrive but I generally have the speaker simulation off even if I'm playing through headphones. It's not going to replace my Blueberry but it doesn't suck.
I also like the Fuzz Face model but I'm not a big fuzz fun so I usually have its gain all the way down. It's a bit warmer and more articulate I guess.

Zoomland we have a problem....

Last night I hook every thing up as normal active bass to the zoom b3 out the 1/4 to amp, and I am get a terrible breakup, at any volume. The active button was depressed. Even with no effects selected....

Anyone have this problem?

im not even a pedals kind of guy and this thing is my favorite ever! its amazing.

Can anyone help me? I'm working on becoming a better slapper (sounds sexual :bassist:) and was wondering if some of the more seasonal vets could either offer tips or supply me with a patch as a starting point to bring out my slapping. I'm working on being more clean with it. I tried the Marcus Miller Preset. It was pretty good, especially since i use his signature bass, but I was looking for more guidance. From what I've seen, alot of guys use a compressor, the BBE Max and a limiter?

Give us some more info about your setup, signal path, what power supply, and what settings you're using and we can probably help. I have never experienced this issue with my b3 and I use it daily with a one spot daisy chained to my other pedals.

Does anyone use the B3 w/ a SVT7Pro? I use a select precision bass and have the B3 in the effects loop of the amp. Does it work better for you w/ the passive or active button on the B3? Being the in the effect loop of the amp I can use the ampeg footswitch for true bypass.
