I was just wondering what settings you guys use when recording using the B3. I tried turning the recording gain to -6DB and lowering the gain in audacity but it was still clipping...any help would be great!!

I had the same problem when I went to do my first computer recording with the B3. It seems my patch was a bit "hot" for my computer's input even when trying to dial it down with my recording software's gain control.
You can handle this two ways on the B3 - via the Total button or the Global button. Both located across the top row of the B3 (to the right of the drum machine start/stop button). The Total button controls the level of just the patch you have dialed up, the Global button controls the level output of all the patches on the B3. For your purpose, I would suggest the Total button to control the volume of just the patch you are working with. I say this because the volume of all the patches on the B3 can vary wildly. Using the Global button will not necessarily ensure that your hot recording level will be resolved the next time you go to record with a different patch. I think the Total button would be best to use & to go through your B3 and tame the hot patches one by one.
So basically,
Total = volume control of the patch you are using at the moment.
Global = volume control of the B3 across the board (but does not auto-balance the volume differences of all the patches at once).

In your opinions what is one of the better compressors just for regular playing. Not solos, not slap but a general finger or pick style song that is rock/metal based.

I like the M comp too but I think the dbx model is more transparent, I can use the same settings as on my Maxon CP9+
I would say any multi effects unit is 80% as good as any original pedal. You get a lot of bang for the $$$ but it never nails an effect 100%. Plus a multi is digital and they all have a digital sound. I like my B3 but I still have my Sansamp.

Thanks a lot stingray...I tried using the global button but wasn't very successful and it didn't feel right. I didn't know about the Total button will try that out

I'm using the M Comp after a filter etc, it's not my go to comp so the settings are more for a specific effect whereas my 160 Comp settings sound very much like the CP9pro+ that I'm used to. It's a more "clinical" sound to my ear than the M Comp. I think the M Comp may have a slightly fatter tone but possibly more artifact. They're both very good.

I understand there are long-press shortcuts for things like patches...To switch banks on the B3, the only way is two hit two buttons at once?
Are players hitting it at an angle to get more shoe, instead of the ball of your foot for two buttons? Just asking, because I have heard reports of B2 foot switches breaking..maybe they updated the durability of the buttons on the B3.

I haven't been able to switch banks. I had no problem hitting both switches at once on the B2 but it's just not happening on the B3 
The bum switches on the B2 were tiny interior things. I don't know if they upgraded the switches on the B3 but they're quite easy to fix, a 25 cent part, no soldering.

Interesting. Is it because it's hard to coordinate both buttons? Are you missing out on any patch sounds or just does it mean more scrolling? What if you reach down and press both buttons with your hands/are you getting bank changes? (Sorry for all the q's/just wondering.)
As long as all the patches can be heard, that's okay because the order of favorites can be prioritized with the software.
Great to know that the buttons are replaceable and cheap.
I sent away for the B-3. I spent an afternoon studying the manual. I couldn't make head or tale of it. I packed it up and returned it. I am sticking with my ZOOM B-2, which I have figured out how to use. If I move my favorite patches to, say, A0 to about A8, I have the problem of linearity in navigating the thing solved. I have also created my own original patches, including a Jaco patch. I suppose there may other multi-FX pedals, but I'm at home with the B-2.
Did you even plug it in? This things pretty much plug and play as I've barely even touched the manual.
Yeah, the banks are accessible by scrolling through patches. B0 is right after A9 and do forth. I haven't been able to jump banks even with my fingers.

Anybody ever managed to get in touch with customer support? Even thought they recommend doing exactly that when it comes to software and stuff I can't seem to find any email contact on their website, but maybe I'm blind... Very fishy!
Therefore I now end up here with some questions hoping one of you has toyed around with it enough to answer some of them. Thanks ind advance!

I would be interested to hear about the lagging/tracking in the synth and octave department. With most synth, octave and envelope pedals I've tried so far I can't play fast notes without it resulting in drop-outs due to lagging and bad tracking. Most of those effects become chance generators, they don't allow for controlled playing. How about the B3?
Software:
Is it Mac compatible or is it not? They claim it is but if you go to "Software" on their website it obviously isn't supported yet.
How far can you tweak the individual effects and create new ones anyway? How does that work? Anybody?
Bypass:
Is it true bypass? How about noise, humming and unwanted side effects when combining with other (true bypass) pedals and playing louder live gigs?
