New Zoom B3 has arrived!!!!

I'm not sure what you mean by lagging and tracking with an envelope filter. You have to play a filter, if it's not closing fast enough between notes for your purposes then you need to tweak it or get a more tweak-able model. I haven't had any problems with the B3's filters keeping up with me. Similarly, you have to play to a synth or octave pedal or anything that "tracks". The Zb3 tracks as well as anything I've used-it's not magic, it has to convert your signal into something else and you have to make sure your giving it a clear signal.

Well, I got pretty much the same stock email about the upgrade:

Interesting to note though that the wording isn't EXACTLY the same so at least someone is actually handling these on a case-by-case basis.

So I just got my B3 yesterday, been playing with it a little this morning. I have ALOT to dig into yet but I thought I'd share my two favorite settings so far!

Doomy Doom Doom setting:
Amp: Hartke 3500; Bass 4; Mid 6; Treb 5; Mid_F 450Hz; Tube 100; Comp Off; 4x10 SWR cab
Pedals: Exciter; Bass 6; Treb 6...Bass Muff; Gain 88; Tone 78; BsBST On; Bal 100

Its so heavy...its so fuzzy...its just an angry angry angry setting. Sounds awesome with my P bass set up with GHS Pressurewounds


Tubey Clean:
Amp: Hartke 3500; Bass 2; Mid 4; Treble 1; Mid_F 200Hz; Tube 100; Comp 2; 4x10 SWR cab
Pedals: Bass Drive; Bass -2; Treb 1; Prese 1; Gain 51; Blend 100; Mid 3...OptComp; Drive 7; Tone 54

Reminds me somewhat of a Rise Against, alt punk kind of sound. Adding the Hartke simulator to the regular SansCmp set up really warms it up and fills out the sound, especially with the "tube" setting cranked. Love it.


I know y'all probably have your own favorites...but I'm loving these two in particular so far. :hyper:

That Hartke sim is really sweet sounding (as are the SVT, Flip Top, B-Man). But a lot of my custom patches are built with the Hartke amp sim at the core of the patch. My favorite being almost identical to what you call the Tubey Clean (Hartke sim & Bass Drive tweaked to taste). Good stuff! :)

When I moved into my first apartment about 2 months ago I had to sell my gigging rig [Hartke HA3500 and a Mesa Powerhouse 410] just because I wasn't in a band at the time and I didnt have space for such a big amp in my little place. That Hartke was my favorite head of all time and the fact that the Hartke sim on here is about 91% as good as the real head has me pumped. I also find I've been running almost every amp sim through the SWR 4x10...it just sounds so good.

It appears you can change the banks and patches with the knobs above pedal 2 in patch mode...

The only thing I'm not catching is, if you're in patch mode and are scrolling through the patches by foot, if you're in a song and you want to change, it would have to be either one up or down from the present patch?

The 3-pedal layout seems better for that...or am I missing something (again)? :rolleyes:

Yes, that's right.

What I've done is to re-arrange my patch bank so that patches are in the order I want them to be in. Makes it a bit easier anyway!

I use rechargeable batteries, and they have lasted hours. Certainly long enough to get through a gig, unless you're touring with the Grateful Dead or Phish.

There's a setting on the B3 for alkaline or rechargeable batteries.

Seems to be the standard response from Zoom....

At this point, don't expect an update to the B3 until the Magic Stomp mutli pedal has been out for a while. I'm sure they don't want to steal it's thunder. I just googled and found that the guitar version was already released with the bass version coming soon... dunno about you guys but I want one to supplement my b3 and if it can run 6 sounds at once too... ohhh yeah.
