New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

i wonder, when zoom gonna release other simulation that already been in zoom b3.
simulation like squake, hartke, b15 and other stuff.
i like squake sound in zoom b3.
and i envy the cab sim on g5n that can turn mic on and off.

Hi guys, how would you approach these kinds of patches?

1) Pick type of attack/sound when playing fingerstyle
2) Stanley Clarke sound
1) i would boost high mid and treble to get the attack of a pick, and add a mild overdrive. the most important of all, pluck harder (bryan beller style). search on youtube if you dont know him.
2) i have no clue.

The cab sim block in the G5n is sort of weird. Turning the MIC = OFF in the G5n doesn't defeat the cab sim entirely...i think...not sure...but I believe that the Lo & Hi EQ parameters stay engaged. Turning the MIC OFF is described as being suitable for using the G5n "with a guitar amp". I've asked the question on another forum: "why don't you just not use the CAB sim block, or bypass it entirely, if you are using a guitar amp?"

So, ultimately, with either the G5n or the B3n, if you don't want the cabinet simulation at all, why do would you use the CAB sim block at all? Am I missing something here? The only benefit you get with the G5n having the MIC ON/OFF choice is that you get a basic 2 band EQ to fuss with with the MIC OFF. I still don't quite understand the logic to this, but since I always use cab sims, it doesn't matter for much to me.

I'm looking for a tone shaping pedal.
I thought about getting an eq pedal+a darkglass b3k/alpha Omega.
Will the b3n do as well?
I don't really have a budget constraint but why spend more money when you can get the same sound at a much lower price

That's a hard question for anyone other than you to answer. Perhaps for some of us the B3n does "well enough" for the things you've described, but without a doubt the actual Darkglass pedals are the real thing and will deliver all the tone variations that those pedals are capable of, as designed.

What the B3n does well - considering that it is a fairly low-cost pedal - is offer a reasonable variety of very different tone/effect building blocks, and allows you to chain multiple items for highly customized tone/effect creations.

Darkglass is the master at one thing - the "Darkglass" thing. The B3n (and other low-budget processors) are more "jack-of-all-trades" pedals, and do a lot of things subjectively well that will vary according to tastes and needs. Maybe the B3n version of the Darkglass pedals are close enough. Who knows? Get one or the other, or get both and then keep the one that suits you best.

it's a bit of mix & match thing, you can't get the same sound from a single stomp simulation without combining others simulation. CMIIW.
and the blend function on each drive sim can get too much coloring to my ears to be honest, even when the blend is on 50.

With a clean solid state amp set sterile, flat and volume-to-taste, you can use the Zoom to make it sound like you’re playing through a specific cab (and amp). With the mic on it sounds nasty because it’s set up to go through a FRFR as though it’s a mic’d cab, without the mic on its set to reflavour a crappy cab through a flat amp with a specific cab flavour. It’s not perfect but it does work.

OK. Thanks for the explanation.

can someone help me?
i got darkglass b3k yesterday and i bought a local handmade adaptor and used daisy chain.
when i hook up b3n alongside b3k (b3n was first and b3k after, vice versa) i got "ngiiingggg" noise but when i run it on its own the noise is gone. i wonder what's the problem here.

The daisy chain is likely the issue. You need an isolated PS or separate PS for digital devices or they often introduce this kind of noise
