I'm just as anxious to audition the new compressors as I am the amps and cabs. If the 1176 can give me anything near what I was able to get from my EL8 Distressor, it will be mic-drop time for me. LOL.So I just learned that the BOSS GT-1 has a dry mix programmed into some of its effects. I'd really like to see a comparison between the GT-1 and the B3n.
Well, this looks like a documentation screw up. If it is modeling an 1176 the REL is of course the release which adjusts how long the compression stays engage after the signal falls back below the threshold. The text here does not relate to what the release button does, and sounds like it should be the main description of a different effect.Even close approximation would be appreciated!

If effects are your thing, it's hard to overlook the GT-1. However, it's not a bass product, so if you're looking for amp/cab emulation, you'll have to twiddle and diddle because I'm not aware that it addresses those needs directly with any amp models you'd expect to see from a dedicated bass processor. To the extent someone is looking for an inexpensive effect-only unit that takes advantage of the Boss stable of available effects and parameters (such as wet/dry blend), the GT-1 is pretty cool.
I just read an incredibly long thread on TGP about the GT-1. Not recommended. The crux of the biscuit is that you can't turn on and off individual effects within a patch and scrolling seems to be a pain. So there goes that idea.
Pedals until mini-Helix, and/or apocalypse, whichever comes first.
Does the GT-1 have seamless preset transitions that include spillover trails for echo/reverb? If so, that feature by itself is a huge WIN for a lot of players. Most typical bassists, though, don't usually lean to heavily on spillover effects but rarely.
The only thing they could do to improve the model (and all the compressor models) is some kind of visual feedback/metering, IMO.Even close approximation would be appreciated!
