New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

Agreed, but flimsy as it may be, the connection/experience is no different than any other pedal requiring 9V negative-center power. ;)

No doubt. I've still got my originals (knock wood) after a few years of regular gigging, so if you take care of them and are lucky, all's good. It's just that they use pretty thin gauge wire without much protective casing.

In case any are planning to pedal board mount, here is an underside picture of the B3n.

Got a roll of Dual Lock waiting :)

I also wonder if the B3n has at least the same sound quality as the TC Nova System. I use the compressor, chorus, octaver (only goes down to the D string), some reverb and a touch of overdrive, and it has really great detailed clean sound, so far the best sound quality I've experienced in multi Fx units (I've used Zoom B3, BOSS GT10B). Maybe someone can compare it already! :)

I have a TC Nova and will soon (ships on the 15th?) have a B3n. The lack of polyphony and it's inability to track lower notes on a bass are the two big let downs with the TC. I'll let you know what I think when it arrives.

That's great, I really appreciate that! Those are the cons for me as well with the TC Nova System, but still, it sounds great! :) Waiting for your review! Thanks!

I've always wondered about the Nova. What are your likes and dislikes about it? Not to derail this thread.

some dislikes: doesn't handle the bass guitars range in pitch shifting and tuning. 2nd: no envelope filter section. 3rd: limited effect chain editing. 4th: not so user friendly interface. 5th: distortion can be used with limits, no clean signal mixing option. Likes: great compressor, great modulation effects, 3 fullparametric eq, great sound quality, MIDI...

BTW... Any reason to use an additional delay pedal with a B3N?

Maybe yes, maybe no. Depends on exactly what you want. The current B3n Delay/Reverb list is not the same as the G5n/G3n, so check this link to see what it has:

In the meantime, if you are only using the B3n for front-end stomps, and not amp modeling, then you'll have the ability to load up to 7 slots with effects. HD reverbs will eat up a lot of cpu (21-25%), while the delays are pretty low on cpu processing, all 7% or below.

If you are using amp modeling with cab simulation, then you'll be even more stressed for both slots and cpu. An amp+cab = 3 slots, leaving 4 for effects (maximum). An amp model + cab can run as low as 31% cpu, and as high as 45%.

Whether this gives you enough slots to satisfy, or whether the ambient delay/reverb effects suit you, only you can be the judge.

Hence why I think pairing this with an MS-70CDR is a good low-cost "insurance plan" in case I find myself wanting to layer on a bunch of delay/modulation effects on top of the amp & cab models.

Though I think this may be more of an issue on guitar rather than bass, but time will tell. :)

Hello guys,

Maybe someone can help me? I 'm trying to make a choice between B3 and B3n.

B3n manual tells me that changing a patch will stop phrase playback and delete data. Is there really no way to change sounds when overdubbing different parts to a loop?
