New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

If you're looking for reasons to be grouchy, here are the limitations compared with B3:
  • Takes two foot switches to get to tuner, the first one is a long press
  • No XLR
  • No USB audio interface
  • No USB power
  • New gripe: Guitar Lab *does* let you switch between patches but that's it. No editing parameters, no editing patches, no control over patch behavior whatsoever, from either PC or the B3n directly. All onboard controls are completely dead in "PC MODE." In the B3 I can stand at my desk and use the software to edit effects and patches.
On the other hand I think we'll be happy with the improved DSP, the more effects, the faster/better tuner, the improved control layout.

Got it. Very cool box. Some new effects and an Acoustic amp and cab available thru Guitar Lab. I'm confused about the Ampeg 8x10 cab. I would like just the cab, not a miced cab but if I turn the mics down there's not much left. It seems the bottom control is just bass not the cabinet or am I wrong here? It definitely is bottom heavy turned up. Any thoughts on this?

This is true, and for me, a better implementation of cab simulation. :)

I am already considering purchase of another B3n after I list some of my current pedals in the Classifieds! :D

Tuner won't be an issue, I either use a clip on or I'm considering keeping my MS60B and I'll just use it.
I use the XLR from my amp, and only need the USB for downloads.
Probably won't use Guitar Lab for anything but downloads either.
Is it Thursday yet!
J!

I can smell the TC Nova System vs B3n comparison in the air! :)
(About the cab simulation, how would you hear the cab, if there is no microfon in front of it? :) )

I still don't understand why one has to have a mic sim in conjunction with a cabinet sim. It seems to me that when running the B3n into a power amp and an FRFR cabinet in a live situation I should have the option of hearing the amp/cab combo as if it were in the room or mic'ed through a PA. The mic sim is ideal for recording or for modeling an amp/cab/mic/PA live setting but why not the amp/cab/room option?

Yes, cabinet sim implementation in this way is absolutely killer! :D

One cannot hear the cabinet without the blend of mics and the Bottom parameter helps manage the boom in the room.
Since the SVT sim is the raison d'etre for the B3n in your world I'd love to see your amp/cab settings. Would you please post a pic of your SVT patch parameters?

So if I order it before 4PM today I can get it tomorrow. Who wants to do some quick recording with their units from now until then so I don't have time to think rationally (thus waiting for a couple extra weeks) about the purchase?
Consider that if you try it for a week and don't like it, you could probably go resell it on Reverb and get back the vast majority of what you spent.

Turn off the mic option in the settings?
