News Flash!: Squier Not a Real Bass

My favorite reply to stuff like that is a plain and simple, "good for you" and say it with a huge smile as though you were complementing a child for just having learned to tie their shoes.
Funny stuff all over this thread.
It the same with drums...it's not the instrument that makes the musician, I've heard good drummers make cardboard boxes sound good.

Also, I find that people who brag about their gear typically are compensating. Could be skills, could be the job, lack of significant other, etc. On the other hand, they might also not be.
Just another elitist who uses dollar signs and headstock stickers to determine what is good and what isn't, so he doesn't have to figure it out for himself.
I don't consider myself an expert on instruments. When I play an instrument, it either feels right and sounds good to my ears, or it does not, and that's all I care about.
In the mid-80's, I wanted an inexpensive guitar. I picked up a Squier Telecaster, MIJ, for about $300, which might have even included the case, can't remember. But I do remember thinking as I tested it in the store, "this is pretty nice for the price". It's an E-series and now in fair demand and well-regarded, but I didn't see that coming back then. It just sounded good to me so I bought it.
Similarly, a few years later I wanted a P-bass. Had always played American basses before, but I tried a Fender MIJ and it sounded good. Another E-series that's now in fair demand and well-regarded.
In short, it ain't the sticker that makes it sound good.

Actually, my VM P is the only thing I play anymore. My "real" Fender (MIM) sits on the stand. The guys I jam with just can`t get over the fact that I play a Squier. Every time we get together, they pick it up and noodle with it during breaks and are just kinda dumbfounded. And these are guys that play vintage Strats, Teles, and Custom Shops worth more than my car
HA! My Precision Elite II will kick the crap out of your Warwick. AND I PLAY METAL!
1. Best bass for metal is a common question of n00bs and a common joke of the people who have been here a while.
2. I don't play metal.
3. I'd be even less likely to own a Warwick than play metal.
My musician m8`s still get bugged that my vm jazz sits next to my german lam top expensive warwick and that i love and play them both equaly still no one can dispute that the vm jazz is a good bass

That attitude and approach are going to leave him very lonely in the world of music. Let's hope he wises up.So the UPS guy just dropped off a Squier Classic Vibe '51 P for me. He sees the Yamaha Electronic Drumset that I have next to the door and he says that he plays bass. So I say "Oh really? That's what this is". He asks me what kind and I tell him and he says "Oh, I have a Warwick. I play BASS, man"
It would be nice, but in many circles, being overly opinionated and ignorant seem to be encouraged.
LOL last night I was jamming on my Squier Vintage Series Jazz, and my Yamaha Nathan East, and my Cirrus 5 and my Spector CRFM 5 were hanging on the wall.
I own and play a Warwick and a Lakland. Yesterday I picked up a Squier Classic Vibe 60's P in fiesta red. I can tell you that it made me just as happy as the other 2 basses and is just as fun to play. I love it. The craftsmen ship is really good. I love both of my other basses, but would recommend squier without hesitation.
