I've had other musicians do the just about the same thing, with a Smith and a Sukop, because they didn't know what they were and hadn't seen them at GC.

As someone who worked briefly in a UPS delivery truck I can tell ya....the upper-tier pay is good but it ain't easy to get there.
The UPS driver which has my business' route is one of the nicest dudes around. He busts his hump! Every time he brings some packages he's red and gasping for air. During the summer months he's drench in sweat. I hope he's being compensated nicely!
The bottom tier is slinging boxes around the warehouse for a few years before they let you become a driver.
Depends on your standard of "shabby" I suppose. I don't trust my memory enough to quote wage/salary figures but I was quite positive I couldn't come anywhere close to holding up my half of supporting my family on it until after a few years of driving post-warehouse.
I took the job as a part-timer to learn more about the full-time gig, and all the veteran drivers I rode with said it was a pretty tough living until you "made it".
Oh that's right, I wasn't think about bottom tier below driver. I meant bottom tier AS a driver.
I have to say though I was nervous when I saw that the seller put Fragile stickers on the boxes. I was told by a driver once that those stickers in UPS parlance mean "Drop Me"
OP: This reminds me of something I heard a few years ago. I was in a music store checking out the basses. A couple of teenagers walked over and were checking out what was hanging on the wall. One said, "Look a 5 string bass!" The other said, "That can't be. Basses only have 4 strings!" If that wasn't enough, he had to say it again in a different way, "If there are more than 4 strings, it's not a bass!"
Let's face it, if he said anything other than "cool, let's see it", he's not a bass player.

-Fedex: Squier CV/VM (faster and cheaper)
-USPS: Peavy Amps (unreliable and can blow up at any sec)
-DHL: Sunn & Hartfield (obsolete)

Let me add to DHL: You play a note and your tuner can't find it or you play a note and you don't hear it until 2 weeks later.
i am a ups driver. as for the pay, it depends on what union contract your on. depends on what state you live in. i can tell you under ours, top pay is acheived after 5 years of service and there is no such thing as "route bonuses". i wish there was. infact, there is no bonuses what so ever. slinging packages is the easy part. fighting the clock all day is the hard part.
anyways, i had a squier classic vibe jazz bass. great bass, used it on many sessions. are you sure it wasn't a fedex driver? i would expect that from them!
