This is about the only mention of the SD card usage that I have seen:

Save and load additional presets to SD card (like the one in your digital camera) using the onboard card reader, and use it to upgrade Octavius's firmware as new versions become available.

It doesn't say they are directly editable on the PC

That was the second negative thought I had. The first being "Where's the expression pedal input?".

But, having thought about it, at least you can store whatever you come up with so you don't have to go jogging through menus for the rest of your life. Yeah I'd prefer to have knobs and sliders to move around but they're not that practical if you use the pedal on more than a couple of tunes in your set (like I do with my BMS).

I don't see what good PC editing would be. You'd still have to put the SD card back in the Chunk to test it. And then if it wasn't exactly what you wanted you'd have to reconnect it to the computer, go through software editing again and then put it back in the Chunk to try it again.

I don't see it saving much (if any) time vs just using the pedal's interface to adjust the presets.

Get me a pedal and I'll gladly write any software you want for patch editing!

Depending on the format of the "patch spec file" this should be easy!

It's MUCH easier and faster. Hunching over a pedal and trying to punch in presets using the very limits controls of most pedals/rack units is far more tedious than using a few mouse clicks. That's why people come up with software editors. Popping an SD card out of the pedal and into a media slot on the front of a PC isn't too tough ;)

Well, I was sending an email to Chunk with another question about the OS so I threw in one about the possibility of a simple interface to do patch editing on the computer. I'll let you know what Richard says.

Wow, that was fast!

I got an email response from Richard Cartwright in 10 minutes.

Good news and bad news folks. The bad news is that the August 9th date is certainly wrong. Units won't get shipped to Godlyke until the very end of August, so perhaps Chunk used the Australian date format of 8/9 meaning September 8th and it got misinterpreted. Regardless, no Squeezers this month.

As for the other question, here's a direct quote in response to my email:

"Yes, we are already planning to make available a software patch editor at some point down the track. That's for later though, right now our focus is on actually getting some Octavius Squeezers out the door."

Well, since we've got an extra month to wait, I suppose a slight derail won't hurt.

My main two hobbies/loves/obsessions/whatever are bass and home brewing. And it dawned on me today that one small thing that makes both of them so cool to me is the high level of customer service I get from both. My semi-local homebrew shop (www.morebeer.com for anyone interested) has absolutely amazing service and a team of people that really care about what they do.

And it's the same with bass stuff. David Meadows from Audere, Stew and Carey at Nordstrand, Brad at Tonefactor and a slew of pedal builders (including guys like Josh, Mario and Os who visit TB) have all given me some of the best customer service in any industry. It just struck me that I've sent Richard Cartwright probably a dozen emails with a bunch of questions on the OS and he's answered every one within a day with all the info I asked for and more.

Hell, my main bass (and pretty much the only one I play anymore) was hand made from my drawings by a builder that I would never have known about except through TalkBass. Not to mention that back when I was teaching Gallien Kruger was a 10 minute drive away when I needed to take my amp in for a minor repair.

No real point I guess, just that cumulatively there's a sense of passion and community that I think is really cool.

Actually that's my fault then. I had assumed that the listing of availability as 9/8 WAS using the Aussie format of day/month/year. D'oh :(

Twatting the UK with that obscenely inflated price utterly rules out this pedal for me. And it should for everyone else in the UK.

With the current exchange rate on $ being 1 GBP = 1.95098 USD, that makes the £ value = 307.537 GBP.

I am not prepared to pay anyone a 172% markup for anything just because they think its alright.

Stuff 'em...
