News on Chunk Systems Bass Synth

ROFL, bit too much info there mate.

I got mine a couple of hours ago! I made a few adjustments, then wanted to start over, so I did a factory reset, thinking it would go back to all the standard preset patches (like the Deep Impact), but having not read the manual I wiped the whole contents!!!

Thankfully Richard Cartwright is AWESOME and sent me the .ofx file with all the original effects, and it was so easy to get them back on.

Now, I'd better go read the manual before I do anything else :D

Oh yeah, the T-shirt is awesome too!

Haha, Rick. I just succumbed found a 9v starting using it... got as far as octave fuzz, which sounds really good and decided I would try to get a Plug In Baby style octave filter fuzz happening.... turns out no. I took a really cool sounding preset and made it sound terrible and then the battery ran out.

Glad you guys are Enjoying the pedals!!!

We are posting them out as fast as we can - thanks for the patience everyone. not too much longer to wait now.

I cant wait to spend some quality time with one to really get into what they can do.

Enjoy them guys and let us know what you think and how you find them.

There is so much to this pedal it's hilarious!

Richard if you're reading this, I think you need to do a 3 hour Youtube lesson on how to use it effectively! :D

+1 Its definitely going to take me a while to get my head around everything. It doesn't help that I've never owned a synth pedal, octaver or filter pedal before though. It took me about 10 minutes to work out why I wasn't getting any sound when I tried to make a straight synth from the manual.

In the short time I've had I've already crashed the thing twice(like it freezes up and I need to reset the power). Also anyone have any tips in setting the tracking sensitivity? I know what it does but I don't know how to tell if its set to the right level approximately.

A word to those thinking of buying from Australia. The $AUD hit a new 5 year low today. What does that mean? Its probably cheaper than in any recent time for you to buy something from AUstralia now if you are in the US or Europe. It also means that goods in Australia are likely to see price increases (quickly) as the cost of importing parts and other costs go up. So yeah, just some food for thought.

Not to rush you guys who already own the OS (I'm not rich enough yet), but will this pedal be practical for live use? I know it does everything and then some, BUT:

1 A couple posters have mentioned quick battery drain (I know - power supply, but still ...)

2 System crash has also been mentioned. Is this just a programming issue, a "few bugs to work out" issue or par for the course with digital stuff?

3 Most importantly, how easily can you switch presets on the fly? I know you can scroll up or down with a footswitch, but it seems two banks would have been more user friendly. Suppose the band leader calls off songs and I have to switch from preset 01 to preset 35. Can I do this smoothly?

According to the manual there are 9 banks. Presumably you can switch between those without having to inc. through every patch on the way.

1. You can adjust the battery power consumption and sacrifice some of the sound quality according to the manual. There are three power levels LOW, MED and HIGH.

2. Im not sure, havent gotten mine yet,but I do know if there are problems,Chunk will definately be sending out updates via downloads.

3. You can program the OC to be used for LIVE use. I know you can switch between using the footswith to change patches or you can program it to use the rotary knobs instead and zoom through em.

You can download the manual at chunks website,it will give you all the details.
