News on Chunk Systems Bass Synth

+1 Its definitely going to take me a while to get my head around everything...
How come there aren't any samples up yet!?!?
I was wondering why nobody had posted samples, until I tried mine out last night. Sheesh! This is one crazy beast.

For those playing at home, this definitely has potential, but it doesn't jump out of the box 100% ready to go gigging - it needs massaging and customising which is quite a complex process for this device given it's huge number of parameters.

One of it's best features - it's comprehensive tweakability - is also potentially frustrating. Some of the factory patches are cool, but others didn't work for me at all, so I think people are really keen to understand and tame this beast before they offer up samples.

Yeah, I honestly don't know why they bothered with a battery in the first place.
mmm hmm.

I totally understand about the glitches and the battery thing. Just getting anxious to see a review from the first guy who has used this baby on a gig!

As far as sounds that are useable out of the box for (my) bands theres a few namely for me, Octave Fuzz, Envelope, Octaver, "Whose your daddy?" (fuzz filter) and a couple striaght fuzzes. Theres a few presets there that I don't I will ever use though especially one called "I like Dana" or something like that, Its about 5x louder than any other sound in the thing.

Edit: I would never take this thing on a gig using battery. I used the battery yesterday before I had a power supply and it was ludicrous.

With hindsight, I shouldn't have expected the battery to last more than an hour considering the way I was pushing it: full power, lots of twiddling... it really should be seen as a backup only, but I wasn't aware of this when I started using it.

Still trying to get my head around all the variable options and have yet to create any new sounds I'd be proud to call 'my own'. RTFM RTFM RTFM  but still loving it for all it's capable of. Only a matter of time till I create the ultimate pseudo-mutron phaser bubble'n'squeak! :hyper:

I'll post a sample when I do...

Well I got to play with it again for a couple more hours today... its so much fun although the downside is I spend all my time tweaking and don't get time to 'practise' as such. I messed around with the tracking a bit more, it tracks pretty well however it does seem to have trouble on some notes such as the C# on the G string, I'm guessing its got more to do with my bass than the squeezer though.

The thing I've found giving me the most grief at the moment is trying to get the filter sounding how I want it too sound... however since I've never had a filter before its probably me.

Edit: The other thing I've found is it really doesn't play nice with my Soda Meiser

And mine's on its way to the US.

Would anyone be interested in me making clips of just the presets? I can easily do an mp3/YouTube vid with me going through the presets on the day I get it. Getting deeper into the unit will take me some time though, so I wouldn't be able to do clips like that until a later date.
