I was working on tweaking that patch last night but for some reason I didn't record any samples. I'm still working on getting the best out of it I guess.

Tone wise there's a lot of options - you can select the waveform of the octave and vary the mix of clean and wet. You should be able to apply a filter to the octave as well. Tracking is good but I haven't properly come to terms with the tracking gain parameter - more experimentation needed.

I think it's very hard to understand unless you've played with one - this pedal is a monster that takes an unusually long time to come to terms with. It represents a paradigm shift for us bass players both in terms of the number of adjustable parameters, and the upgradability. The same feature that makes it awesome also makes it somewhat fussy and not as 'universally forgiving' as other pedals.

Any other pedal would already have half a dozen sample contributors and a review or two. But I'd wager dollars to donuts that most owners are still sitting at a desk with the user manual open, scratching their heads and tweaking parameters until something happens. A major achievement for me over the weekend was to go from an empty patch to actually having sound coming out of the output!

Speaking of which, has anyone tried the random-effect-generator-thing-type-deal?

Well, that's certainly one way to use the randomise feature, but even it turns out settings which result in no audio at the output! If you do happen upon something cool, the first thing you want to do is fine tune the results, and if you don't understand the parameters well enough you can't do that.

Although funnily enough, the patch just by itself has certain reverb-y qualities about it - I just enhanced it a bit.

those wiki samples kinda bummed me out. theyre either fuzz, or some kind of non-musical weird stuff.

how many of the presets sound synthy..and not just like a fuzz?

There's a couple of samples with fuzz, but most of what I suspect you're hearing is a square-wave VCO. Very important distinction!

Define "synthy" and I'll see what I can do. Personally I think these sounds are in the same category as every other bass synth pedal I've heard.

As for "non-musical" well we could debate that until the cows got sick of hearing us debating and stopped coming home! Music is what you make it, man! Even mainstream music has become very open minded in the last 10-15 years.

Based on the soundclips, I probably won't pick up one of these cause i already have those sounds on my board. But, I would suggest getting this if you don't wanna spend more money on multiple pedals.

Thanks for the clips nifty. Not sure if 600 smackaroos is to reasonable for a pedal like this for me at this particular time but my GAS shield may cave in over time and when that time comes I'll just have to buy one.

For those that want to hear the pedal in a more traditional "musical" setting (I dug niftydog's clips myself), I'll be each preset by playing each one in a groove and having a constant drum groove from my Handsonic playing in the background. I'll try to hit the lowest and highest Cs on my six-string on most samples as well to hear how the pedal handles those notes.
