I've watched it a few times now. I believe he was early and realized it at the last second, so he tried to avoid hitting Diggs and getting flagged for PI. An interference call would have set up Minny in FG range. I'm not sure he had enough time to slow down and get there at the right time. Maybe he did, but he's a rookie in his first playoff game and was probably too jacked up.

Also, don't forget he had the leaping interception near the end of the third quarter to set up the Saints' second TD.

I feel bad for the kid. What really killed the Saints was their awful first half.

I saw his brief interview after the game. He never mentioned getting there early and trying not to get called for P.I.. Just said that he didn't make the play. It actually looked to me like he came in with his head down and might have lost visual contact when he went in to make the hit.

And don't get me wrong. I feel horrible for the kid. But IF it were me who whiffed on it, I know I wouldn't sleep that night. Hey, I'm a life-long Steelers fan, and yet I STILL feel bad for Jackie Smith for having that pass in the end zone bounce off of him in Super Bowl XIII. I've never liked the Cowboys, but still felt terrible for Smith. Has to be a horrible feeling...

My only thoughts on NOLA losing are... perhaps they should've shown up for the first half of the game, not dug such a deep hole, and not give up 92 yards in penalties in 2 quarters. It sucks to lay it all at the feet of that guy - yes, he should've made the play and saved the day... but there was so much else wrong up until that point that has been overlooked.

With that said... I'm only tuning in because it's playoffs and have no skin in the games being played. I'm actually kind of happy that PIT and NOLA got knocked out. I hope NE does as well... would like to see some new teams up there.

Well Selta, you'll see at least ONE new team. Eagles or Vikings. As good as the Jags looked yesterday, I still have to give the edge to the Patriots at home. Steelers? Not so much. I DID pick the Jags to beat the Steelers at home.

My picks were Eagles; Patriots; Jags; and Saints. Came within one play of going 4 for 4...

I think you and I were the only ones to do so.
It just reaffirms in my mind how easy it would be to be one of these NFL analysts on TV.
They don't say or do anything insightful. Just sit there and make obvious observations and safe picks.

Yeah, everyone is really pumped around here, but they forget what the Vikings do. They set you up and then let you down...HARD.

It would be very fitting and typical of them to get to the Super Bowl, at home, and then loose in the same fashion thy won yesterday, go 0-5 in Super Bowls, and have that record - earned at home - to live with for all time.

If the Vikes win, they will be the first team to play in their home stadium. Two teams have played in their home market but not their stadium - 49ers at Stanford and Rams at the Rose Bowl.

Yeah, I thought he meant somebody who has never WON a Super Bowl. Vikings lost Super Bowl IX to the Steelers.

Yes. It was the law that said the Cubs would not win a World Series. The law was written with a transfer clause, and the Browns got it when they bought a used moving van a few years ago.

I didn't see any of the games this weekend, but saw the final play of the Vikings-Saints game. The DB who missed the tackle is probably lucky he missed. His head was down, which is how to get yourself badly injured. And now, it's up to the Jags to keep smarm boy Brady out of the Superbowl. A Vikings-Jags Superbowl would be a refreshing change. I would take an Eagles-Jags Superbowl. If the Patriots are in, I'll make a point of not paying attention at all.

Give it time. At the rate things are going, the Browns will transfer that law to the Mariners. Or maybe they already did.

Steelers just flat got outplayed in the team sense. They made a few amazing plays, but the Jags played a more consistent game. Bortles kind of reminds me of Trent Dilfer, who became known as a "game manager" and who also played on a team with a great defense....and who, if memory serves, won a super bowl.
