NFL 2017 Week #19 Divisional Round

Steelers just flat got outplayed in the team sense. They made a few amazing plays, but the Jags played a more consistent game. Bortles kind of reminds me of Trent Dilfer, who became known as a "game manager" and who also played on a team with a great defense....and who, if memory serves, won a super bowl.

Same here Chris, on Bortles.
Blake's role now will be 'don't turn it over'. :)

The Steelers have been a me first team for a couple years now. That sense of team went away when the last players from the last SB winning team retired.
Tomlin sits back and doesn't do anything about it. He should start first by getting rid of that loudmouth Porter, but that's his buddy so Peezy isn't going anywhere. Shame too. A team once known for superior LB play is far from that now.

Vikings are 0 for 4 in Super Bowls. Tied with the Bills for worst record.

And the Iggles are 0 for 2.

It’s not looking good for the NFC.
That said, I doubt anyone on the Vikes’ roster was even alive the last time that franchise was in the Super Bowl. And I would be shocked if any Eagles remain from their last SB.

I watched the end of the Vikings / Saints game today a few times and it's clear the safety got there a tad early and I believe he dove to avoid committing pass interference. Sad for him because he had a good year as a rookie and now some fools are giving him death threats on social media. I wonder if sending 4 men to the QB was a good idea for the Saints, it would've been nice to have another DB deep for the unthinkable play that did happen.
Regardless, it was one helluv an ending.

I feel like the classic Steeler-type star linebacker prototypes are playing for other teams - Carolina and Seattle, to be specific. Now those two are serious linebackers!

Yep. It started going downhill when Tomlin brought in his buddy Peezy (Joey Porter) to coach the LB's.
Sure, Joey was a neat player for the Steelers and an emotional leader. but as we can see in the lack of development at LB under Porter's coaching, that 'beee-yaaaaahhhh' crap don't fly.
You can't count Shazier since he's a special kind of good, but how about Bud Dupree? Dude disappeared. Jarvis Jones? Yeah, he's not even on the team. Both #1 overall picks for Pittsburgh.

Good grief, I would so love to have Bobby Wagner in a Steeler uniform. Pair him up with Tuitt and Heyward, and ain't no one getting a yard up the middle anymore. Like the old Hampton/Keisel/Farrior days. 'sigh'

I feel really bad for that kid. Whatever reason he dove like he did, it sure looked bad. It's just one of those things. He will be Bill Buckner, even though he could go on to a hall of fame career.

I hope the Seahawks get a few more horses around Wagner before he wears out. He's Ray Nitschke for our time.

One of those split second decisions that the DB had to make. Quite opposite from the DB who made the interception a few years ago in a Super Bowl; I remember seeing videos of the Patriots' practice and the scout team ran the same play, as Seattle did. The DB got burned every time; just happen, he was able to make the play, when it counted.

Exactly the comparison that occurred to me. Buckner by any other name....

In Denver, he's being compared to Rahim Moore who missed a pass that went over his head and was caught for a go-ahead touchdown, dropping the Broncos from the playoffs. The TV stations ran a poll asking who made the bigger mistake - Williams won the "worst" vote by a mile.

Sooo Fichtner is in at OC because Ben likes him more.

I dunno @MJ5150 what do you think?

Seems like a kneejerk reaction. I wonder if Haley ends up the Titans HC or OC :)

That would figure.

Personally if Josh is indeed off to Indy I would prefer the Titans to get either Bob Cooter or Harold Goodwin. I think both could help Marcus and bring in others to do the same.

Word on the street is Ben and Haley never really got along. I realize you don't have to be buddies to work together, but I think that fueled the failure to renew Haley's contract.
You can't argue with the numbers put up on offense under Haley, so it wasn't a production issue.

I think it's time to look further up the ladder, at Tomlin.
The defense is a joke, and just yesterday he said the defensive coaches jobs are safe.
WTH? Seriously Tomlin?

Boomer the Dog has made his conference championship and Super Bowl picks. I'm sure you will be impressed.

Unfortunately, he picked a team that wears purple. What an unsightly color.....
I would like to see the Vikings get a Super Bowl ring, if only because they have already lost four times.

Well, being a Viking fan for the last 40+ years (although I have divorced myself from regular NFL/Vikings watching for the last 8 or so years)I can tell you a typical Viking outcome would be get to the Super Bowl and be the first team to play at home and then lose to be the only team with a 0-5 Super Bowl record.

The Minneapolis Miracle last week will be almost meaningless without a Super Bowl appearance at least and win at best.
