Word on the street is Ben and Haley never really got along. I realize you don't have to be buddies to work together, but I think that fueled the failure to renew Haley's contract.
You can't argue with the numbers put up on offense under Haley, so it wasn't a production issue.

I think it's time to look further up the ladder, at Tomlin.
The defense is a joke, and just yesterday he said the defensive coaches jobs are safe.
WTH? Seriously Tomlin?

Yeah that's weirdness for sure. I don't know if I would vacate Tomlin, but I would certainly have a talk with him about having more firm a hand on his coordinators dealings. The HC is supposed to be a leader of men, and sometimes that means pulling someone up by their shirt tails. Seemingly he let Haley have carte blanche with the offense.

I didn't think I'd want to either, but he has some serious deficiencies at managing a game. Weird calls, questionable clock management, failure to control the locker room, coaching down to the competition, failing to have his team ready to play, letting the defense make average QB's look like Pro Bowler's (Brett Hundley and Blake Bortles for example this season alone), and more.
All of this while having arguably the most powerful offense in the NFL, and one of the best offensive lines in the league. What does he have to show for it? A bunch of losses to the Patriots.
Joey Porter and Carnell Lake, while beloved former Steeler players, just are not coordinator material. Proof is in the performance, and both of those positions have been on a downward slide since 2009.
Maybe Tomlin is playing them like he played Arians in 2011, and will let them go in a few weeks. If so, then shame on Tomlin for lying.
Then again, maybe this 'report' is false and Tomlin has not told anyone on the defensive coaching staff their jobs are safe for next season.

That does suck but I also wonder if Ben didn't add to the drama some. I mean, he is the one slinging the ball. If he wasn't happy with his OC, and wanted to get him gone, he worked it beautifully. Play sub par, hint at retiring and then throw your head coach under the buss in a press conference.
