Pack Lions

Officially a draw. Pack needs to hope Hundley goes 5-4 and that 9-7 gets a wildcard berth and Rodgers is available. It's asking a lot. We'll see how Hundley goes in his 3rd game. McCarthy screwed up Hundley's first start by calling a way too conservative game and he admitted he screwed up. That being said, I think the Lions D will be too much for our battered Oline. Hundley could get killed. Lions by 2 TDs.

Seattle plays Washington. Writing that felt weird even though it's the schedule. It's a home game for the Seahawks. That ought to be enough to tip it their way, no matter what Seahawks team shows up. The offensive line gets another remodel. Russell Wilson tweaked his contract to make the Brown deal work. He probably thinks it's worth it if it keeps him from getting killed. It may not matter this week, since there's no way Brown can be 100% up to speed this fast.

It also meant he got a $6,000,000 check from the Seahawks today. I'm sure that factored into it as well.
This way if he does get a career ending injury this season, he has an extra $6,000,000 in his pocket now.

Yeah, there's that. It's not entirely altruistic on his part. Actually, when you think about it that way, he wins both sides of the deal. His money is up front, and he might not get broken in half.

Yep, great points.
It's not just Wilson, who by most accounts is a great guy. I just chuckle to myself when you see headlines about how a player reworks his contract to make room in the salary cap. Some folks see that an think the player did the team some great favor, when in fact the player is the beneficiary just as much if not more.

Baldwin got a similar rework earlier this year. When you are getting that much money, and both of those guys have endorsement deals for even more, I'm not sure if it matters all that much for any purpose except taxes. If I was in that position, there would be some kind of discounted cash flow calculation to see whether taking it up front or deferring it was the better choice. Wilson is enough of a student that he may have done that. Same with Baldwin.

I think the Jimmy G signing to the 49ers will light a fire under Cousins bottom since he is now auditioning in earnest again. The safety net that was the 49ers is now gone. I'm not sure if that hurts or helps him but it seems he will be more motivated than he has been. It's an interesting dynamic.

Osweiler starts this weekend for the Broncos. Siemian gets a week off from having 300-pounders dance on him. He may feel frustrated but somewhat relieved!

Loved the way the Seahawks pulled the game out last weekend in the final 90 seconds.

McCarthy is one of the best offensive minds out there. I think Hundley has room and capability to do better, and I'll be pulling for him this weekend.

Broncos' D gives Philly's O their toughest test of the season...

...but it won't be enough. Brock needs at least a couple of games to find his sea legs, and the Broncos O continues to fall short. Which makes no sense, because we've got three RB's producing now (Anderson, Charles, Booker).

But Denver makes no sense this year.

Incognito: Thursday games 'completely unfair'

Now I have issues with Thursday night games, but this bullying meathead is not the guy you want taking the lead on this. And it certainly looks whiny when it comes after a loss.

Wow Greg, that's almost word for word my thoughts after I read that article. I came here to post them, but you covered it well.
