NFL 2018 Week #3

Aww bummer, no NFC Norris match up this week.
I'm sure the Steelers will get lit up Monday night while Antonio Brown is busy arguing with a Twitter critic.
Jacksonville is looking legit. I still think New England owns the AFC, but the Jaguars are closing the gap.

We can forget about the Seahawks for another week. They still have no offensive line. I wonder why Justin Britt came out at the end of last night's game. If he's gone down, then there's some more turmoil on the O-line, just where you don't need it. So it goes. They will do just fine on defense against the Cowboys, but I don't see a win this week.
The Browns could very well beat the Jets. They actually could be 2-0 if they had a reliable kicker. Who would have thought that! They have a serviceable quarterback for now in Tyrod Taylor, and no apparent quarterback controversy. What's with that? This is the Browns fer chrissakes! If they beat the Jets, they will be at .500. That's a little like a Mariners playoff berth.

Tomlin seriously needs to go now. That team is out of control, dysfunctional, and who knows what else.
When you have someone like Brown who is so small minded and weak mentally, there is no room for someone like that on your roster no matter how many yards and catches they can accumulate.
Take all those amazing stats he has piled up, and see how many playoffs wins that matter it calculates out to. I did the math so you don't have to. The answer is zero. Same with Bell.

Tomlin inherited a hell of a team from Cowher. It got him two super bowl trips and apparently a guaranteed job for life.
In two weeks Brady will have Gronk, Norman, and the other guy coming off suspension...

He sure did, and the vets carried that locker room as long as they could. As they slowly retired, out the door went the discipline and team mentality that is needed.
Players started doing what they wanted to, Tomlin is a 'players coach' and thus started attracting those kinds of players.
So here we are today.

What, you ask? Well, moving from the Orlando, FL area back to the Raleigh/Durham, NC area...right as hurricane Florence decided to hit. So, while I've been able to follow football for the past 2 weeks somewhat (Week 1 - ***?
, Week 2, better, but still....), I've been a bit overwhelmed, as you might expect. Also, without electricity or cable internet for a while. Back up to speed somewhat now, and finally have a day off from work and everything else for the first time since the Saturday before week 1's games...
...I'll try to get back to my stupid predictions tomorrow, not really paying attention to the game tonight...

Ok, how many of you ran out and bought Baker Mayfield jerseys this morning?
Been a while since I've seen a rookie debut that brought so much life to the team and the game itself. Was a snoozefest for most of the first half...much of the second half was like lightning in a bottle.
BTW, I'm Pittsburgh born and bred and a life-long Steelers fan, but even I'm happy for the folks in Cleveland.

Both teams played pretty chippy. It was a good old slobber knocker. I like seeing that kind of game. The attitude of the Brownies changed when Baker went under center though. The crowd acted like it was a home game ( ok it was but when was the last time it felt like that was even an advantage? ). I'm not inducting Mayfield just yet, I mean, he's no Garoppolo amirite?

I didn't realize it was even going on until the second half, and Mayfield was already in. My wife and I were at an Irish bar for her kind of comfort food - bangers and mash, shepherds pie, and that kind of thing. I just happened to be facing the television, or I would have missed it all. The Browns didn't beat the '72 Dolphins, but at least they beat somebody and looked pretty convincing on both sides of the ball while I was watching. There are teams that get within an eyelash of winning during a long losing streak, and then when they finally win one, they go on a tear. It's almost like the shell cracks open, and the beast gets out. I hope that's the Browns. Or, they could make like they did two years ago, win one, and then disappear into the mire again. Mayfield makes me think they will be better than that, but I'm not a betting man, and even if I was, I still would only root for the Browns, not bet on them.
