It's getting so hard to compare QB numbers across eras. The rules are very pass-friendly now. It's almost unheard of to have more INTs than TD passes now, and some have 15-20 more TDs. 40-50 years ago the numbers were often quite close. Completion percentages are a lot higher, too.

Dan was an amazing QB. I remember watching him with Pitt and Miami.
He never had a chance to win the NFL games that mattered. That's too bad.
It's fun to watch games with great players, and it doesn't take away from their career that for reasons often out of their control they never won in the playoffs.
However, when you want to start comparing guys, I think that's where wins matter.
Tom Brady won't often win a showdown based on stats, but it's hard to dispute he is the best QB ever to play in the NFL.

Houston/Tennessee had two studs in my lifetime. Moon and McNair. McNair may not get enshrined, but he deserves to be. He was clutch and more than that, tough. He was a dual threat ( 33 rushing TDs only 3 behind Vick ) with more passing TDs than Aikman and fewer ints. He never had a HOF receiver. Eddie George and bits of the O line were his HOF (worthy) assets. As for passing yards?
32,924 for Aikman
33,124 for Young
31,304 for the late McNair.
He rushed for 3500 yards.
McNair also had a completion percentage of 60.1, a quarterback rating of 82.8 and 21 fourth quarter comeback wins.
His name was on the 2019 ballot with Eddie.

Two reasons for disbelief:
1. Any team would believe he won't reoffend.
2. That he continues to do the same things and somehow thinks he won't get caught.
Jury is out on whether 1 or 2 is greater proof of insanity or maybe just stupidity.
