NFL 2021-22

I don't follow the raiders, or anything sports related, really. I just watch the games. And last year was the first time I started watching again after probably over a decade.
But, it's pretty obvious that someone wanted to get rid of this guy for some reason (sucks as coach? He was too connected to get fired for losing?)...to go digging up personal emails from 10 yrs ago, when he wasn't even working for the NFL.
It's pretty obvious someone wanted him gone and honestly, that was a dirty way to do it and pretty weak too.
I'm sure you could pull up ANYone's 10 yr old personal emails, texts, make them public and get them fired.

And Gruden was just fired. This link doesn't quote what he'd said directly, so I think it's OK to post it here. All I'm going to say is, he brought this on himself.

Ugh.... gross. Can't say I'm surprised. The guy never seemed very stable, to be honest. That much rage isn't a healthy thing.

The story says Gruden resigned.
From the article: 'Raiders owner Mark Davis released a short statement saying he has accepted Gruden's resignation'.

As the story says, the emails span the period of 2010-18, so as recently as three years ago. And the emails came to light in the course of an unrelated investigation of the Washington Football Team. Gruden sent these emails on his company email account.

The league came across the emails while investigating a separate workplace misconduct issue unrelated to Gruden, according to the original Times reporting. The offending emails were repeated frequently over an extended time from 2010-2018. And it was a restless faction of the Raider fan base that…well, were not fans of JG because of certain decisions (e.g. - Khalil Mack trade) he made and a record that was not exactly stellar up until this season.

Here's all I know about the situation, from hearing 5 mins of discussion on a sports talk show, a few hours ago:
-They gave him a 10 yr/100 mil$ contract.
-the team sucks.
-some emails got dug up.
-he's gone.
I have to assume that if they won the Superbowl last year and were 4-1 right now,.... Maybe those emails don't get handed over to a "news" outlet to get made public.
I don't know the details and I'm not saying the guy isn't a POS. I don't know. Just saying what it looks like on it's face.

I dunno, but I’m thinking maybe a banjo-playing squirrel ratted him out… probably just for a few free nuts…:rollno:

Seriously though, this really doesn’t snack of conspiracy, just openly bad behavior. It’s pretty blatant if you read the breadth of the material. And I was always someone who enjoyed John.

So after last night’s brilliant craziness:
  • At least one OT game each week through Week 5 (only the second time that has ever happened).
  • 19 Games decided in the last minute or in OT through Week 5, a new record.
Colts really came ready to play and looked great on both sides of the ball, just seemed to run out of gas, especially when the Ravens started pouring it on with the no-huddle drives late in the game. Pittman’s TD grab at the start of the second half literally made me lol (and then did so a second time when they missed the PAT a minute later). Andrews is a beast.

Who’s ready for more?

I grew up with MNF broadcast on the major over the air networks. I found out last night that it was on ESPN.
I don't have ESPN.
So, that stinks.
We have sling tv and whatever other apps my wife added that we don't watch and now the bill is probably back up to what it would be if we had cable o_O
So, no,... I'm not adding a "sports pkg" so I can watch a few Monday night games that I should be able to watch with rabbit ears.
Now get off my lawn.

I'll agree when the Browns win one. This season? If they learn to play defense.
Jury on the D is still out. If you're measuring their ability to defend against two of the best QBs in the conference, if not the lig, (and why wouldn't you) then the D sucks. I hate to say that it does not bode well for their chances in the division against the likes of Jackson and Burrows.

Week #6 Packers Bears

I think the Bears are better than people think. The defense and some consistent play by Fields at QB could make this a trip up game for GB. AR's age is catching up with him. No longer is he a top 5 QB statistically and he's already made more mistakes with the ball in 5 games as compared to all of last year. The offense has become very one dimensional through the air with AR focusing almost exclusively on Adams. If the Bears D can get consistent pressure on AR and can take Adams away, it could be along day.

Packers 21 Bears 20
