NFL 2021-22

The Browns defense destroyed the Bengals early with turnovers. A 99 yard pick six makes up for a lot of flaws. Mayfield doesn't seem to miss OBJ much, either. The Browns gained more yards on a whole lot fewer plays. I don't know if the Bengals just sucked or if the Browns figured something out over this past week.

The Browns were all over Chase. Burrow looked very ordinary today.

Dear lord, we're calling people scumbags and comparing not getting a vaccine to criminal behavior like dog fighting and beating women? How hysterical, sensational, overreacting and ridiculous can you possibly be?
I was told this wasn't the covid 19 thread, but people can carry on about Rogers and his vaccine drama for a whole page? And he did all this for attention? Funny, I didn't even know about it except for the people talking about it in this thread. I guess we can go on and on and on about how we view Rogers and his stance on vaccines in this thread,.......as long as it's the -hysterical, non-scientific, bash everyone who doesn't want/need to be vaccinated- side of the discussion? Is that how the rules work in the "football" thread? How about we delete all the vaccine and "scumbag" talk, or at least take it to the COVID thread. Or, is that just for the people that have no problem with Rogers' vaccine decisions?

Anyway, the Bills look terrible today.
If they win, it'll be because the jaguars have been beating themselves all game.

He wasn’t called a “scumbag” in this thread, just “liar” and “jerk”.

You might actually want to look into things a bit more before sounding off. It wasn’t that he was unvaccinated, it was that he said he was “immunized” and then did not appear to follow the protocols the NFL requires for unvaccinated players, endangering those around him.

I may be in the minority, but I agree with you and I really have no problem with what AR did. He's labeled himself a "critical thinker". He feels he doesn't need the vaccine. He's young, he's healthy, he has access to world class medicine. He watched the entire league play last season without a vaccine. He watched as the NFL had a low infection rate, despite the fact that the players are on top of each other every play sweating on each other, breathing on each other, bleeding on each other. All the players put their health at risk on every single play. They get pumped with steroids, pain killers, and every other damn thing you can think of in order to stay on the field. Broken bones, blown out knees, warped spines, CTE, No one ever complained or gave a damn about players health. Now AR's vaxx status makes him out to be the worst person ever. BS.

Meanwhile, he's been watching the news just as I have been watching the news. Complete hypocrisy from every area of life. Political leaders from both sides of the aisle completely ignoring mask/vaxx mandates. Entertainers, sporting events, social events, music fests, funerals, social protests, etc. Hundreds of examples of COVID hypocrisy. The NFL issued two sets of protocols based on vaxx status just to CYA and AR didn't want to play along. I don't blame him.

Lastly, I haven't heard a single person mention Henry Ruggs in this thread, despite the fact that he killed a woman and her dog while DUI at 3:30 AM and yet ARs vaxx status is a code red situation. I'm a huge NFL fan and I haven't heard a peep about Ruggs from the NFL. It's almost as if ARs vaxx status was a cover story or smoke screen.

This is true and I agree with most of what you said. And may I also add the hundreds of examples of other people in every walk of life that is also ignoring mask/vaxx protocols however/whenever they feel fit. It's BS.

If the "scumbag" comment was directed toward me, you might want to read my comment again. I was not calling Rodgers a scumbag for not getting the vaccine. My personal belief, unpopular though it might be, is that it is everybody's personal choice whether or not to get it. I HAVE gotten the vaccine, but I will not bash anybody who chooses not to.

The "scumbags" I was referring to WERE the woman-beaters and those who sanction dog fighting and behaviors like that.

A smoke screen? Sheesh. What Ruggs did was awful, and he was immediately released by the Raiders and now faces prosecution. What else is the NFL supposed to do?

As for him not being mentioned here, perhaps that's because Rodgers is the reigning MVP and first ballot Hall of Famer while Ruggs was a rookie wideout with 24 career catches.

Well, no one loves a good speculation more than the internet so yeah, a smokescreen.
To wit: the NFL was aware of AR's non-vaxxed status. The GB Packers were aware of AR's non-vaxx status. NFL reporters were aware of AR's non-vaxx status. But apparently no one cared about enforcing the protocols until Ruggs killed someone DUI and AR tested positive. Before that, his vaxx status was not discussed despite everyone knowing he was un-vaxxed and he was flagrantly violating the rules. No one cared. No one reported on it. Now, the NFL is saying that AR will not be suspended. Why? Because no one wants to watch Jordan Love play QB.

I can read all about Ruggs and what he did on the ESPN website and thousands of other websites, why come over and drag that terrible story up to talk about here too?
I'm going to say it again, this thread is about NFL football. A comment or acknowledgement on those situations? Sure, as it pertains to the games on the field.
If a person wants to go on and on about drunk drivers or vaccines or conspiracy theories, find another website to do so or start your own blog or YouTube channel.

Okay, no problem. I love football way more than DUI and COVID discussions. But, to your point. I watched both games (OAK/NYG & GBP/KCC). They were both terrible games. OAK looked like they were stuck in mud and made the NYG look fairly competent, which is a pretty hard thing to do.

Jordan Love is no Aaron Rodgers. Okay, I'll give him a chance as it was his first game. But GBs offense looked worse than the NY Jets against one of the worst D's in the league. As it pertains to the games on the field, that's tough to say. Both teams looked like crap and had some interesting news associated with them this week. Tough to say if it had an impact. I would guess yes, it did have an impact. I mean, Derek Carr wakes up Monday morning and finds a text from his teammate who would just a couple hours later would kill someone in a DUI. I pretty sure it would mess with your head. I mean, have you seen Derek Carr's haircut? It's pretty nuts right now.

I thought Jordan Love played alright for the first time ever against a Super Bowl winning team.
Kansas City blitzed him almost every third down, which was good game planning from Kansas City.
I was sort of jealous that Green Bay has a legit QB besides Rodgers. But hey, if Packer fans don't like Love, send him over to Pittsburgh. We'll give you Rudolph and Dobbs. :D

That's not really the point with Packer fans that are critical of AR. It's not 100% because he's unvaccinated. There are some who think as the team leader he should be vaccinated. That very well may be the case with some fans. But it's more because he lied, or at best deceived the reporters and public by saying he was immunized. He made it all about him. Most people would equate immunization with vaccination. Why lie about it? Just tell the truth. Be a man about it. He apparently didn't follow all the protocols for unvaccinated players, appearing in numerous press conferences without a mask, and apparently hosting an maskless Halloween party. That's the rules. That's what the players association agreed to. Again, more deception. He got COVID. He's made both the off-season and now the regular season all about him. I don't expect him to be in GB next year. And I don't care anymore.

Buffalo! What is going on? You have a couple ugly losses on that shiny record.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills enjoy some success and make a Super Bowl run, but dang, Pittsburgh and now Carolina? Oof. :)

I can see where you're coming from, and I get it. There are some fans who feel he shouldn't get vaxxed.

Why lie about it? Based on what he said himself, it's probably b/c he doesn't need the vaccine and doesn't want the negative publicity of being unvaxxed, and he doesn't want to follow the NFLs arbitrary rules. He's always been an aloof guy, this should not surprise anyone. If anything, he wasn't trying to make it about him at all, in fact the opposite. He comes off as not wanting to speak about it all, let alone "make it about him". The "I'm immunized" statement was in August and I really don't know when he applied for or was denied a vaccine waiver. There may have been a lag between the interview and the NFLs denial of the waiver.

But ignoring all that, like I said earlier. At some point this season, everyone knew he wasn't vaccinated and NO ONE cared. The GBP knew, the NFL knew, reporters knew, presumably the head of the players union knew. But again, no one seemed to mind until he tested positive. So if we're going to be a stickler about the rules, please let's not stop now. Let's publish the vaxx status of every single player and we'll go back and see who's following what rules.

Personally, I don't care about his status or anyone else's in the NFL. I'm just trying to watch the best football.

One piece of the puzzle for the big showdown is in place: Seahawks' Wilson OK'd to play after finger injury.
Hopefully it all works out in Green Bay and we'll see two of the best QB's in the NFC go head to head on the field this weekend.
If it ends up being Jordan Love for Green Bay, at least the Seattle defense isn't as good as what he saw from Kansas City.

I've been a "student of the game" for around 50 years and a Bills fan almost as long. IMHO, championships are won and lost in the trenches where the real men battle it out without the fame and recognition that the more "skilled" positions get. The Bills offensive line was mediocre to start with, then went downhill due to injury. I see no superbowl in their future until this is corrected.

I agree, but this D is insane. I think Allen had a bad game but he's a hoss out there. I think the offense is fine despite the OL. This defense is just absurd.
Look at this:
Only one QB has passed for 250 yards against the Bills this season - Pat Mahomes.
No QB has had more than 2 TD passes against the Bills this season.
Only 3 QBs have had even 1 TD pass against the Bills this season.
No QB has had a passer rating higher than 83 against the Bills this season.
The Bills have allowed only 5 passing TDs all year.
The Bills have allowed a cumulative 62.9 passer rating this year.
