When the Super Bowl kicks off, the Steelers and Dolphins players will be doing the same things that day. Watching, playing golf, on vacation with family and friends, and so on.
If Pittsburgh wants to see another Super Bowl, they need a few losing seasons to clean up the roster.
They should have started that a year or two ago instead of dragging out the Big Ben dog and pony show over and over again.
I get it, only two teams make the Super Bowl, but my point being is a 5-3 Steelers team is zero threat to make the SB let alone win a wild card game. It's a waste of the good players on the roster to have a winning season of any kind. But hey, this is Mike Tomlin football. Just good enough to not suck. Maybe some fans are cool with that. I'm not.

:D BUT... The Steelers are sitting at a very misleading 5-3. Those numbers could easily be reversed (3-5)...
The Steelers are still much easier to watch than the Dolphins—trust me.:D It’s easier to say you want a rebuild while you’re winning than it is to sit through 20 years of nothing and STILL be rebuilding!

You're right. I'm also a Flyers fan (apples and oranges, I know), so I understand where you're coming from. 46 years and counting since our last Stanley Cup. (Sigh...)

It's funny how the Rams defense still gets all this praise as being one of the league's best. They're not even top-10. And as great as Jalen is, their passing defense as a whole is mediocre at best.

Will be interesting to see if these trades pan out for McVay. The NFC is stacked this year.

That's too bad the the Rams. They had potential.

It cracks me up how GM's are haughty enough to think they are the guy who can bring in the problem player and get him to fall in line.
Mayock in Las Vegas just went through it with Damon Arnette.

Although I don’t have high expectations for either one, if I had to pick which of the two deals might pay off, it’d be OBJ/Rams.

Stafford is the one spreading the ball around, and he’ll find him if he finally actually starts getting open. And sometimes these guys that shake loose want to prove something - even if it’s just to stoke their egos - and can be surprisingly productive in the short term. We shall see…

Von M, on the other hand, should make a noticeable difference. He’s not what he once was, but was having quite a good start to the season before the injury, and he is a great teammate that will help pull things together. I’m excited to see that defense on the field, should be fun.

Come on FOX, Michael Vick? Seriously? I figured I could maybe tolerate the postgame show if Curt Menefee (whom I enjoy listening to) did most of the talking, but when Curt asked him point blank if this Miami win was more of the Dolphins with a good game plan or Lamar Jackson having an off night, and he said it was Lamar having an off night, I had to shut it off.
Between that and that shiny head doofus Jay Glazer, that's a hard pass for me. I have no clue how Glazer has hung around the NFL this long. Any of us here bring more to the table than he does. He should move on over to MMA/UFC fulltime so I don't have to see him anymore.
But Vick? Heck no. I won't watch any broadcast with him on it. Ain't gonna happen.

So Anyway, I enjoy watching football.
Can someone please explain the 'prevent' defense strategy often used at the end of the game?

In the final minutes, it seems like the team that's behind gets free reign to move the ball down the field... when they haven't been able to do it for most of the game. Why not continue to go after the quarterback?

I just don't understand the strategy and would appreciate some enlightenment.
