It's early to be starting this thread, but when AR comes out of his "darkness retreat", there will be discussions to be had and they won't belong on last year's thread. I suspect this will be a busy off season for the Packers. Lots of changes coming.

Off to the races again! Geno's contract is still an open question. He and the Seahawks are saying positive things so far, but nothing is finished. The trade with Denver is pretty good so far. The draft will say how good the trade really was for the Seahawks.

The standard is the standard.
Tomlin will never leave Pittsburgh so long as the people who sign his check have no other expectation than come to work and not lose more than you win. Playoffs? Eh, whatever. Super Bowl? Why? They have 75,000 people in the stadium every Sunday and 10's of thousands more begging to get in.

Oh, come on. KC was in easy field goal range without the penalty in the SB. And hitting a QB two steps out of bounds like Cincy did is gonna be called every single time in the NFL.

More to the point, Mahomes played well in the second half in both games, threw 5 TDs and zero picks, and pulled off a scramble at the end with a high ankle sprain in both games to set up the winning points.

He also won the SB after losing Hill (who almost led the league in receiving with Miami). He's the best QB in the NFL until further notice.

Yes, but it can't be ignored that two key penalties made the jobs easier. The FG in the AFCCG was no gimmie without that personal foul penalty. It still wasn't, but at 41 yards everyone felt better about it over the option of it being 56 yards.
I don't think anyone here disputes the quality of player Patrick Mahomes is, it's just convenient that the other teams commit penalties at the most opportune time for KC.
I personally don't think the refs made calls for KC, and we know the Philly player even admitted he was holding. There's really no controversy if it was a penalty or not there, or the AFCCG.
It's all part of the big picture in winning a Super Bowl in my opinion. Sure, you need a few excellent players, but there's a whole bunch of other things that need to go in your favor along the way. Player health, tipped balls, turnovers, execution, officiating, play calling, etc. Otherwise, the best team on paper would win every year.

I honestly don't think Aaron Rodgers is going anywhere, not with that contract. I am very curious to see where David Carr ends up, though. I think he still has enough in the tank to turn a team around or get one over the hump, if he can find the right situation.

I agree with all of that, but I would also add that the 30 minute halftime in the Super Bowl can make a big difference. A lot of players have said it feels like starting a new game in the second half.

Even if it didn’t cause the Eagles any problems, and it looked to me like it did, that’s also an extra 15 minutes for Andy Reid to make adjustments. I don’t care how good your defense is, the second half is going to be harder than the first.

The late hold hurt the end of the game because it led to the Eagles not having a solid extra possession. But it also was evident. I think midfield after the 2 minute warning that may not always be called. But if you’re honest, the scoop and score after catch and 3 steps under control should have stood. Then 2 plays later, Goedert had only 1 foot inbounds with control of the ball but they stood it as a catch. That led to a a field goal. So if you’re a Philly fan and you are rightfully furious with the call that potentially impacted your ability to go to OT or maybe score a TD with 90 seconds or so, you should also consider the 10 point negative swing against the Chiefs on iffy calls.
Lesson is you need to play aggressively enough that the officiating has no impact.
It was a great game. The reason the Eagles lost is they were out coached 2nd half.
I’m neutral to both those teams FYI. No doubt Philly was the better team but Reid is a better coach.

Especially when you are facing Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. Giving them a little more time to figure out what you are doing is a problem for you. I was surprised at how well both O-lines held up against the rush.

I remember toward the end of the game, thinking that Philly's defense looked exhausted. KC's O line held up way better than I expected.
